Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the situation in Ukraine-bordering regions with local governors via a video call on Thursday.
Alexei Smirnov, the acting governor of the Kursk region, said that over 133,000 people have left the areas affected by fighting. Smirnov added that over 19,000 local residents have stayed.
Bryansk region Gov. Alexander Bogomaz reported to Putin that authorities in the region had conducted training for emergency evacuation from border areas in case such need arises.
Speaking during the call, Putin said that Ukraine has attempted to strike the Kursk nuclear power plant, adding that Moscow has informed the IAEA about the attacks and expects the nuclear watchdog to send its experts to the plant to assess the situation.
Belgorod region Gov. Vyacheslav Gladkov told Putin how local authorities prepared schools to launch the new semester in early September.
"Parents, thinking about the future of their children, start considering the relocation to other regions, given that distance learning slightly loses to face-to-face one of course. Therefore, to eliminate risks for children's lives, we provide a lot of measures, for instance, the construction of shelters, the improvement of protection within counter-terror (work)," Gladkov said.#putin #putinspeech #russiaukrainewar #tnworld #timesnowworld #worldnews #internationalnews #timesnews #newsworld #worldnewslive
