My dream is having any sleep without dreaming. Very rarely I have a nightmare but I dream at every single nap I take or sleep I have. At least that's my impression and what sucks the most to me is the fact that almost every dream I have, is about me having to solve some sort of problem or being involved in some weird situation. I literally rather being awake sometimes than falling asleep again just to have another dream. It actually happened this morning. Freaking holiday, I could stay longer in bed but I really feel mentally tired because it seems my head don't rest, it's always working. I don't drink alcohol (maybe 2 beers a month...) and sonetimes I take some over the counter PM pill to help me to stay in bed later on Saturday and Sunday mornings but even so, I still dream in those nights. I don't really think of myself as stressed or having anxiety problems.

@@chuckgame4210 Man, I smoked pot for 21 years, pretty much everyday, and pretty all day long. The dreaming thing happened back them too. Appreciate the thought though.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to answer my question!! I TRULY appreciate it!! 🤗 I do struggle with anxiety and have noticed that when it is at its peak my dreams get the most bizarre! But I now understand not to demonize REM sleep thinking it’s not needed, because wow if it’s needed to regulate emotions and process learning. Thank you!

You're not going to like this answer and you're going to roll your eyes. Work out, eat healthy, and sleep 8 hours a day, drink water and have at least one conversation a day. When you dream IS when you get energy, so dreaming too much means your body is trying to compensate for energy it doesn't have. You're also probably dopamine depleted, limit screen time to 2 hrs a day, and lay off the drugs/alcohol until you have energy and your body is able to regulate them. Having energy as an adult is a full time job. I have nightmares pretty much every other night and I am still pretty damn active

I started to track my sleep due to waking up feeling so tired & my ambien working less. So, my ambien works for 3 hours, i wake up to a racing mind. I lay in bed til i can fall back asleep but its in & out of light sleep to REM the next 4 to 5 hours. I get about 2 hours deep, 1.5 REM, the REM & light sleep is always the last 5 hours of sleep. I am totally exhausted...its all vivid dreams, i feel like i am in another world with people i know but cant remember or i am dealing with my life situation. So am i having rebound sleep after this ambien stops? This has been about a year now, i think it happens more when i am stressed 🙃
@PutInsomniaToBed6 ай бұрын
Hi, yes what you describe could be rebound insomnia, as you're having vivid dreams. Rebound insomnia usually happens when you stop a medication or when the medication stops working (as in your case), and the underlying insomnia that never got addressed comes back stronger for a time. The solution to this is to address the core things causing the insomnia using CBT-I (the gold-standard treatment). Medications don't address the core issues, which is why when you come off of them the insomnia usually comes back.

Can CBT-I help REM rebound effect?
@PutInsomniaToBed Жыл бұрын
It depends if you have other symptoms consistent with insomnia. CBT-I is designed specifically for insomnia, and not other sleep disorders. If the only issue with your sleep is REM rebound, and you have no other symptoms consistent with insomnia, then it probably won't help.
