This was incredibly useful. Correct, NOT easy - setting the alarm clock an hour early is going to be a challenge! But worth it if it works. Thanks.

My problem is I have only one day off work, so basically I get so excited to that day, and start worrying that if I dont sleep well before that day, I wont enjoy it!, and always end up not sleeping well, although I sleep well the whole week because I dont care about sleeping during the week😂 kinda funny

Just started experiencing insomnia since around 3 weeks ago after long period of sleeping fairly well. It evolved from health anxiety and trouble breathing. When I’m in bed I constantly scan how I breathe and over time it gets more shallow, tens and difficult. Trying to accept it but it keeps me vigilant and then I start worrying this will be the case forever with ultimate end being sort of heart attack, stroke or madness.

Nice to know that you really do respond to comments and re-do a presentation that people did not understand the first time! I was not one of them, but this video happens to be relevant to me. Query: if I get up and do something else, do I stick to my original wake-up time once I do go back to sleep, or do I allow myself another hour (or whatever) to make up for the time I spent awake?

It takes me two to three hours to fall asleep and then I wake up about two hours before my alarm goes off. This is new. I used to be able to go back to sleep after I woke up in the middle of the night. I was just diagnosed with sleep apnea and do not have a mask yet. The first two to three hours are usually spent being continuously woke up by gasping or snoring. Do you think this type of insomnia is only physical or do I need to address each issue individually? I.e. the breathing and the insomnia. Thanks for the content.

CBT i is just another tool. It's wrongly applied especially when insomnia is based on hyper-arousal. The CBTi rules become a source of anxiety itself. I hung in there for many months. I actually started to sleep when I said F---k this! Read a book in bed (like I used to) and then I slept.

Why do you think there is so little online about overcoming insomnia? (Other than 'sleep hygiene', of course) I have found your channel, and a couple others after doing some digging, but really, there is so little about cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia, and I can't seem to find many CBT's for insomnia in London

Great question. It's because most health providers (all over the world) receive little to no training in sleep, and none in insomnia, so they never learn about the gold-standard treatment. They just prescribe drugs or recommend sleep hygiene. I made my CBT-I treatment program online for this reason, so it's accessible to anyone in the world that has Internet. You can get more information about it here www.drorma.com/sleep

Thank you for the free guide. I'm going to implement this into my routine. It's really hard making myself get out of bed in the middle of the night. I have done it before but I (ironically) feel so tired and cold. I wonder how you keep this up, and push through the mental and physical struggle of it. I also wonder what you do in this time? I can only think to read... I would love to embark on the course with you, or another specialist but I don't have the money

Hello :) I've been applying the sleep restriction on myself. It was 1 to 6:30 am. Every time my sleep efficiency attains 90% or more, I try to widen the time spent in bad, and every time I do that, I relapse and return to square zero. Could it be that I should stick to the same sleep schedule for a longer period of time even though the efficiency attained 90%?

Does this protocol work for nocturnal panic too? I go to bed at 9:30. It usually wakes me up around 2:30. O night when it’s not a panic I’ll still wake up around 2:30. Just a tiny bit anxious but awake for most of the rest of the night.

Yes, most people with insomnia have anxiety or panic (which is high or sudden anxiety) at night. So, it's is also addressed with the protocol.
