Allie you are an angel. Always a beautiful smile, a terrific attitude and a real lack of fear and a real interest in wanting to expand your abilities. You guys should have a wonderful future ahead of you when you both pull in the same direction to complete the job at hand. You’re very lucky to have a woman like her at your side Trent. Don’t ever take her for granted, she’s the exception not the rule. Best to you both always.

It’s awesome that Allie is learning to build stuff and use tools. My Dad taught me growing up how to build stuff and use his tools, then I apprenticed with a farrier and learned a ton, now my husband and I do home improvement projects together. They are our tools, not just his! It’s important for a woman to be knowledgable and confident in that area.

Goats love those Little Tykes stage 1 slide with big holes on sides to climb on and crawl in. I saw them on the KZbin channel Hidden Heights Farm. Another great channel is Sawyer Ridge Farm. They both are raising goats and have great info if you are looking for some knowledge about different types of goats and the food they use.

Hi guys. Just a little tip. I used to keep chickens and ducks. I constructed a pen and hutch, very similar to yours. Unfortunately I went up there one morning and a fox had dug underneath and killed them all. This was in a much more urban area than yours are too. So please consider burying some mesh around the pen. So that critters can't dig holes, because they can! Bury and peg down mesh from the wooden base and back for perhaps a foot or so is sufficient. Just below the ground. I would hate that to happen to you guys or your Mum. Good Luck Guys. From the UK.

Yep, I’ve heard too many “murdered chicken” stories, in just this year, alone - 2020. Seems like “chicken” is a meal that their predators have it in their DNA to ‘seek, find, and “get-at’em”, in ways we hate to imagine. But, worst is those who have woken or been stirred in the night, to find a horribly vicious scene, and the loss of their chickens. Unfortunately , there are many who can share their experiences - wear they were vulnerable and what they’ve each had to do to mitigate the chances of a recurring episode. Trent and Allie, this is the benefit of having a community of loyal followers who care about y’all succeeding and keeping safe and your farm animals, protected, as much as possible. I started questioning, ‘what is going one”? Are there more predetors? Are there more people raising chickens? ... I dont know the answer, it could be: both. But, regardless, the concern at this point is to protect you farm animals. Al Trent said the other day, “you’ve all put a lot , A LOT!! - of work, perhaps more than you first bargained for, - into building the chicken coop, the chicken run, the fencing for the goats, thee barn and bedding area for the goats and on and on and on .... So, listen to the words of those of fought and lost. I have NO experience, but I have heard this story too many times this year, to not make me curious and want to “pull for the safety of the chicks and farm animals - and all the hard work and investment made my so many people, including Trent and Allie. Thank you @Steve Haines Counsellor !

Yes! Absolutely!! Our neighbors, who were encouraged to raise chickens when they saw our set up, had the heads of evey last one of their 30 chickens literally separated from their bodies apparenyly by a gang of racoons that laid in wait while one or two of them frightened all the chickens out of their hen house to their fence enclosed yard, where, in their panic to escape, they all poked their heads through the holes in the chicken wire!! So, in addition to burying some fencing at least 2½ feet in the ground, I'd try to find finer mesh chicken wire, or figure out another way to keep those chickens safe!

Last week you commented about an electrical box that isn't grounded. Trent, you can get a copper grounding rod and drive it into the ground under the box, run a wire from the ground on the outlet to the rod, clamp it to the rod with the ground rod clamp. This is not good not having this grounded. Don't want to fry any of those babies your raising. Love your videos.

I am not an electrician but I remember seeing that there should only be one ground point in a system. Having separated ground rods in different parts of the system could lead to problems. I think that the only way to fix it is by running the proper grounded wires or just leave it as is. Don't take my word for it but ask a local electrician because different areas might have different requirements.

Their cookbook is packed with some great recipes! I bought a copy and have made many of the recipes myself, so even though they were living in their van at the time, the recipes work well in a house, too! All delicious!

You guys just bless my soul...Love your vidoes so much and always look forward to watching your ventures. I could only wish I received half the love from any of my kids that your share with your mom. Your mother is so fortunate to have such a loving son. Trent, you're a good guy, one in a million. The love that you share for your mother is a truly a treasure. I don't know her but wishing her a very Happy Birthday...I can see the light in your mother's eyes! Allie, yes, you are an angel! Stay safe!

Love to see how you do the coffee using the coffee machine in your van, and then give it to Allie :). Why you guys haven't created a coffee (bean) brand for yourselves. Happy birthday to Trent's mom.

Oso and Frank are so cute together. Isabel is adorable. I like your raised planter boxes. So much easier to tend than a raised bed or in ground garden. May have to try that.

I went looking but couldn't find my fox-proofing articles. But in a nutshell; use another layer of wire on top of the one u got now - and UNTIDY is better cos taut wire foxes can climb and walk on - up to roof - and walk on roof. So add another untidy ayer - they'll get their paws caught up in it and be deterred. Put a couple of those garden solar lights close together near the gate - they will think it's an animal guarding - and hang some broken cd's that randomly reflect light and things woven into fence that clang in the wind n scare them. tidy and taut wire is easy to traverse. they will go in thru the roof and chew away wire gradually. hardest bit for you to do at this late stage is bury into - and along all perimeters at least 2 feet deep - 3 feet is better ....some of that curvy fence stuff (we call it corrugated hardy or iron) ...it can be about 9 inches above the ground. yes - they dig under fences as well. ...the fence will help keep snakes out too. dunno bout racoons - but surely these measures should work. having Oso is good too. ....cos male urination along periphery helps keep predators away too. Points of entry are weak spots ....so having like a two gated system....like an entrance porch is good too. And please give them a couple of rocks or something else to climb around . ...plus elevate their water ....and food so they can't kick dirt into them either. Are those wonderful planter boxes gonna be where the goats can get them?!

You are such a great couple and it is fun to watch you both helping out mom. Trent, here is a tip from this happily married 70 year old viewer...never use the word “let”, as in I’m going to “let Allie”. LOL

I started watching Trent and Allie videos because I thought you were a couple of nice kids going to some really cool places in that amazing van...very enjoyable stuff, indeed. Over the past several months my esteem for you has grown by leaps and bounds. You have both shown the character and maturity to deal with whatever life throws at you. This latest chain of events, and the way you're both handling them, has put you to "the test" in so many ways...and you are coming through with flying colors. Now that we've had glimpses of the families you both come from, it's no big surprise you are the down to earth people we see in theses videos. Always love the fact that you are so fond of, and caring, for animals. Frank is a star...and Oso and the chicks and goats are on their way as well. Your mom is lucky to have you there, and you're both lucky to have the families the helped mold you into really good people. Stay healthy and strong !!!

If you're making multiple copies of the same thing, cut all your pieces first, then get an assembly line going. And since wood dust is not good for your lungs, you should wear a mask when cutting.

I have to say I am enjoying your adventures on the farm. I followed a bit of your nomad life but this to me is more relaxing to watch as I always wanted a hobby farm. Too old now but I can appreciate what is involved. Gives you both a chance to learn new skills and work together as a team. Allie is keen to learn for sure. Keep it coming. I am sure we all think you will build a tiny house for yourselves as home base there on the property.
