Brilliant solution! For so many reasons. Zero cost. Always available - like if you're on a trip and forgot your sock donner at home. Or if its in a closet. No bulky parts. Thanks for sharing!

So glad I found your video, I gave it a try and it actually worked for me, my wonderful wife is in the hospital at this time and she puts my socks on in the morning normally but she fell and just had had to have hip surgery so I am on my own for now and the near future. Clips and rope with that paper make it more easy. I did it from plastic box and tape and rope and friction mat. One layer of plastic wasn`t enough to keep it open. Friction mat strips in it help to pull socks all way up. Size is hand size and weight is 50 gram.

Even easier, you can use a towel, fold t in at tbe end, stuff it in the sock then place your foot in the center while holding top corners. Slide foot into the sock when it bottoms out, the towel continues to feed the sock up over the heel and up the calf before it slides out from inside the sock.

Oh My Oh My! Late to the Party but am grateful for this video! I hate going sockless and due to the severity of my arthritis must wear "slip on" BTW: many of the sock devices are made of poor quality materials and using them are a struggle anyway. I managed your way in two tries! Many thanks.

Great idea...I have been using a long handled back scratcher😂 I can slide my foot in the front then use the claw on the back scratcher to grip the back, but this will likely work better

Hi, and thanks for your video ....I also have arthritis in my left hip , can't reach my left foot , I use a pair of BBQ skewers, ... at the top there is a 1/4 " gap where the metal circles around but doesn't touch, I slip each side of the sock into that space and pull them on , it works like a charm, I also use one of them for cutting my toenails ( I cut a small strip of rubber and taped it to the inside of the circle and use that to grip and twist my toe as I cut it with a pair of those 17" extended toenail scissors from Amazon. I've been doing this for two years now and have had enough !!! ...heading in to the New England Baptist next week for a total hip replacement ( I suppose I could just go and get pedicures but I'm cheap and I get embassassed easily ! )

Thanks all of you for your comments. I never thought this video (my first) would get so many hits. Also, sorry about any quality issues and thanks for telling me how to improve (lighting, shortening it a bit, etc). I did it by just turning on my Nikon set up on a tripod. Perhaps having a camera person would have been better!

i was about to jerry rig some device to assist me with my sox but mostly for my right leg which has a hip problem ,sometimes i can do it sometimes its either the hip or just joint pulling pain in my thighs and knee and stomach squeeze ruptures that kill me putting that one sock on leaving me breathless for the few seconds i need ,i end up juts barely slipping the first two toes then i take a breath and hope i can slip the rest on without it catching my other toes or hang nail and i have to do this while lying on my back in bed ,,i was searching online to see if there is such a thing or anyone thought of it and i see there are indeed a couple of devices on the market,,but i like making things so i just finished putting it together now and waiting for it to dry cure where i attached it to a long wooden handle,,hope it works cause i feel ashamed having to ask someone to help me put a sock on each time
