Puzzles and Survival: Beginners Guide to Heroes

I do have a separate video showcasing heroes but realized I left out a lot of basic information for beginners. So this video is designed for the newer to intermediate players that may be struggling with leveling up their heroes. The main focus is on campaign, understanding the difference between hero level, hero enhancements, and star level. I mostly focus on strategies for the campaign. The quick break down is to focus on pushing as high in campaign as you can, when you are struggling to beat a new level go back down a stage or two and focus on getting books to evolve your heroes to the next level. Utilize hero frags to enhance your heroes as soon as you can to boost their stats. Once you get high enough in campaign focus more on levelling your heroes and understanding their skills and how the heroes work together. This video does not cover gameplay for the campaign. I plan on having a different video covering the match-3 gameplay if you are struggling with that. My other video on heroes does cover some of that as well as my video on the arena so check those out! Great tips, I'm going to be checking your channel for more. I've been playing a week and just learned that I should only level 2 stars to 31 and 3 stars to 71. Also didn't realize the 'hard' chapter stages drop more/better items, so that's a big help in farming. Thanks!

Definitely try to get to VIP level 10 as soon as you can so you can change your talents for free! That's a big help but does take some time. In the meantime I always recommend a balanced approach. Hello. Is it hard to obtain five star hero for short time play or ?

I other games, like raid for example, I'm able to take my hero from a 2 star to a 3 star by upgrading them. Can you do that in this game? Or are you stuck with what star level they are, and have to get a different hero with higher star rank?

Great point! In some games you can raise star level however in Puzzles and Survival only 5* heroes can have their star level increased. All other heroes are what they are (at least for now). Good luck!

How do you promote to 1 star on the hero

Everywhere I look says NOVA is available at HQ lvl 10 in the newly designed Research Lab, but my HQ is at lvl 12, and I cant do anything in the research lab because I'm still trying to get past Ch 10 and get the meds for the girl so she can have surgery (it's her last one). Does NOVA not show up until after the girl is healed?

I thought it was 15. But double checked and the research lab becomes available after hq level 10. Not sure if you have to build it or not. They have changed it since I started. If your research lab is built then make sure to level it up too. Otherwise I'm not sure what the issue is.

Quickest way is to complete events that have them as rewards or use Noah's tavern coins you might win for a chance to win a 5* hero. The advanced (purple) coins.

Increase the size of your bootcamps and the number of bootcamps. There are talents for it so focus on those. Other then that not really.

Welcome to the game! So if you mean when you attack a lair it is saying troop might too low then it just means that you need stronger troops. There are many different ways to improve troop strength. You can level up your camps for higher tier troops. You can improve gear, chips, modules, and cubes. You can acquire and equip nanoweapons to your heroes (once you are hq lvl 20). You can research military techs. You can improve eva military, you can learn military talents for your commander. Pretty much everything you do in game is designed to either improve your troop strength, your heroes strength, or you sanctuary. Focus on small problems. For instance what is saying your troop might is too low? And what are you trying to do? I have videos on many of these topics. The main tip I can give you is be patient and talk to your alliance. You'll figure it all out before you know it! Good luck!

I never reset any heroes. It isn't necessary. It is only a tactic to beat certain Ultimate challenge levels or if you want to switch which heroes you are focused on. Otherwise you need them all levelled up eventually.

Hello I am new 2nd day a d trying to play for fun and this video was very helpful. Can you answer one thing for me please. It states "you can use AP items..... " what are AP items and how do i use them. Couldn't find any video on this. THX

AP stands for "Action Points". So most things to do in the game require some form of currency or energy exchange. For instance hunting zombies and raiding lairs requires stamina. AP is similar to stamina except it is what is used for attempting a level in campaign. Below your commander avatar you will see two energy bars. One has a lightning bolt. That is your AP. It gradually refills over time but you can use AP replenish items to get a certain amount of AP. They can be found in your bag or while doing campaign if you are out of AP, but attempt to attack a level it will notify you and if there are any in your bag you can select to refill. You can also refill using diamonds and/or by purchasing packs in the mall. I hope this helps!

@@hugoolmos3307 sorry for any confusion there arent "items" that give AP. Go into your bag. Go into the diamond shop and under gadgets you will see the lightning bolt for 1500 diamonds you can purchase 120 AP. In addition it is a random drop from Noah's tavern instead of hero frags. Completing certain quests and events also drop AP refills which look like a big lightning bolt. Completing certain levels of campaign also rewards AP refills but its awarded automatically. If you get the AP refill item from noahs tavern or purchase extra with diamonds to have on hand then you have to use it to refill. Hope this helps.

@@hugoolmos3307 it helps if you have played games similar to it before. The tutorial (the guided quests for the first week or so) will help teach you most of the basics. Feel free to ask anything you arent sure on I am always happy to help. With the influx of many newer players to the game on my channel I plan on increasing the number of beginners guides to help improve the learning curve. My biggest tip is to have some patience as it does take time to learn everything (I learn new stuff all the time) and talk to your alliance members for help and guidance. Once you beat campaign all the way through then it opens up a second difficulty. The first set of evolve books are in that difficulty. You can beat every level of that campaign to open up the 3rd difficulty level of campaign and the last set of evolution books.

So Nova is the new name for the artificial intelligence inside your research lab. Not the research for your tech tree. It's now to the northeast of your Headquarters however here is a link to the original video o did when Nova was originally called Eva. Outside of a cosmetic change and the location change everything is the same. Blue books are a random drop. Everything from chapter 15 on is approximately within the same range of as low as 2 books to as high as 5 (maybe 6?) But the average is around 3-4 books. Once past chapter 20 I saw no increase in the average amount dropped.

There really isn't a change to the gameplay. The add ons are mostly skins for some troop improvements, a few challenges related to the GI Joe theme and other things like that. It's mostly cross promotional stuff that is just GI Joe themed.

So I need more information. I am assuming you are referring to heroes. But when you say level 2, a hero is graded off of multiple things. There is the star level (2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 star) there is the enhancement level (+0 to +5 for most heroes and up to +8 for 5 star heroes) and the evolution level which is capped at different levels based on star level max for a 5 star hero is 350. If I had to guess I assume you mean a 2 star hero and you need a 3 star hero. As of right now there is no way to increase star level except for 5 star heroes can go to red star (6 star technically). The only way to get a 3 star blue hero is by 3* hero choice cards, recruiting from Noah's tavern using any of the coins, and some are won by completing lairs and or quests. If you want to get a blue hero from enhancement level +2 to +3 then you need to get more of their frags which can be acquired through Noah's tavern, hero choice cards etc. Hope this helps. If not please clarify exactly what you are trying to do. In addition each hero is specific to a star rating for instance Noct is always considered a 3 star blue hero. A 4 star blue hero would be otto. Otto will never be 3 star and never 5 star. So to get a different star level specific color hero requires a acquiring a unique hero.

@@markn3586 Awesome! Early on it is tough to upgrade heroes because you always need those blue books but you need stronger heroes so it's a cycle. Push in campaign as best you can but when stuck go back to one you know you can beat and just farm for books until you can level up your heroes or get better heroes. It will come with time. What unlocks hero auto upgrade, so you don't have to level one at a time

When you click on upgrade like normal it will pop up a choice to upgrade to the highest level with what antiserum you have on hand. Just click that. (it's kind of like a double tap) hope that helps!

How much time did it took you to get to level 16?

I was able to get to level 16 in a few weeks. Level 16 is an important level to get to because it unlocks the pit. Once at hq lvl 16 it almost makes sense to slow down a little and make sure your other buildings are catching up to your hq before pushing to fast. A more casual player could take a month to get to 16. There is no rush! A strong level 16 hq is better than a rushed one! Thanx for the question!

@@jurgenjurgentk5931 Great question! Actually I spent $0 dollars in game for probably at least the first month of play at least. I really prefer to be a free to play player but when I enjoy a game and want to then I am willing to spend money on it. The first thing I spent money on was tech and build gear and that was around hq lvl 20. And only the three star set. I did later upgrade the gear around hq lvl 24. Some of the mechanics of the game have changed since when I first started. Update have been made which makes it a little more difficult to get resources or it seems to me. But I started a second account and was to hq lvl 15 in the first 7 days. Knowing the game makes it a lot easier for sure.

Technically purchasing one from the mall. If you want one for free you can complete certain parts of the tutorial or hope to get lucky in Noah's tavern. On average only takes a week or 2 of daily play to get a 5 star hero for free. Good luck!

Logging out of the game completely requires an uninstall of the game. Your account will still be active but that way you can start over if need be. Otherwise closing the app technically logs you out until you reload the app.

You have to have blitz tokens. Then it will give you the option. However I am not sure if there is a limit to what level you have to be before you can blitz. Keep levelling up your heroes. It takes some time in the beginning but you'll get there. Good luck!

You should be able to beat campaign 7 then. Make sure you have a healer and keep making attempts. It takes a bit to get the hang of but you can do it. You can also go back to a level you have beat to farm for books to level up your heroes. Even if you can't blitz it. You can just redo the level as many times as you want. You'll still get the rewards just not the first clear rewards

I recommend at least .99 cents to unlock your 7% daily bank, that's 105 free diamonds everyday, maybe wait for a joy 777 day so you get the 2 extra joy coins for getting 180 quest points

I agree. Although if you can spare the 5 bucks and change the only way to unlock Scarlett is to buy her you can upgrade with perfect frags after. But that will also unlock the daily bank.
