PVZ2 Vasebreaker IS BOOOOORINGGGG

To each their own if you like this mode, but I'd rather play Boss Mode in GW1 than play Endless here.

Things PVZ2 Vasebreaker did well: - The Gargantuar-specific vase is cool AF and they balanced him out somewhat by making him move slower than the other Gargs (since by default they are faster than in PVZ2) Things PVZ2 Vasebreaker did badly: - Horrible level design (there's one in Wild West where you get just FOUR Split Peas in a level with Prospectors, WTF?) - Only doing the first 3 worlds and then not bothering with anymore - Locking the Move Vase powerup behind Endless, specifically wave 15 which is just way too long - Half-arsed powerups in general (reveal is fine, butter is a decent clutch but feels out of place and move basically needs reveal to use effectively) - Making it separate from Adventure and the ONLY minigame to do so, they might as well have made it a Brain Buster Overall, as much as people are lukewarm on Vasebreaker in the first game, I think it had all the potential in the world here, and Reflourished expanded on that pretty well (still have Move Vase locked behind Endless though). Also this isn't really a thing I have against it, but the fact it's the only time you can get mystery gift boxes nowadays just shows that they haven't even thought about this game mode in years.

I have yet to try the Reflourished version, but I'm so interested in what it's like. I was also shown another take on this idea with a recent mod that I already forgot the name of, but it basically makes the vases all zombies and forces the player to break them all by final wave or else they lose. There's so much that PopCap could've done, and they did a whole lot of NOTHING with the idea :(

​@@SylviaYSI so, they added three levels in each world, added new Cerebrawl theme for EVERY world, and utilized gimmicks when possible for some worlds. For Example, there's Graves in Dark Ages, Tide in Big Wave Beach, and Jams in NMT as Examples.

A curious fact about the unused vasebreaker packs of Far Future, Dark Ages and Big Wave Beach, is that in old versions of the game, the ilustrations for them didn't existed, but in actual versions they were added for some reason and they are still unused in the game, they even added the illustration for the BWB pack and in the code of the game he uses the Dark Ages image as an placeholder dispating that the ilustration already exists in the game textures. Great PopCap, you are doing a very "EXCELLENT" job this days.

Shoutout to PvZ Reflourished who tried to do something by giving the other worlds (and the 2 custom worlds) their own 3 levels. Unfortunately they havent changed endless mode yet, but they still put in over souble the effort that Popcap did!

The weirdest thing about vasebreaker isn’t that it only has 4 sets, it’s that pirate seas and Wild West vasebreaker were added into the mode as an update to it a couple of years later. But in regards to invisi ghoul and column like you see em being scrapped is that they probably weren’t replaced by vasebreaker considering those scrapped modules were found in version 1.9 & 2.0.1 which was the updates that added zomboss to the first three worlds. If anything it might of been earlier world minigames for Far Future considering how column like you see em used stuff such as plants and zombies from ff in its test level implying it was made with FF in mind. Not sure if invisi ghoul was also planned as an ff minigame or if it was meant for smth else and was left in the files by accident but I do think they were scrapped for similar reasonings. A.) technical difficulties with how conveyor works in pvz 2 leading to clyse getting scrapped, (take this one with a grain and as possible hearsay). B.) Sun bombs already exist and Popcap may not wanted to have two unique minigames especially since zomboss was also suppose to get multiple levels in FF at one point back before every world had zomboss fights. C.) Probably was hard to come up with 4 unique interesting levels for either minigame since these were probably worked on prior to pvz2 maps being completely reworked and I imagine that might of been an issue that came up when designing unique levels for those minigames in mind, at least Vasebreaker was made with multiple levels in mind in pvz 1 meaning that Popcap probably thought it justified having vasebreaker in more than one level of it in pvz2 than the scrapped minigames. I wouldn’t be surprise if similar reasons were also why whack a zombie got scrapped from pvz 2 as frostbite cave world minigame. So yeah probably don’t blame vasebreaker for why those minigames probably got scrapped.

pvz2 vasebreaker is literally impossible after a certian time at endless like my record is 40 smt and you probably can get to a 100 with perfect rng and sun usage but the game literally gives you -50 sun -1 plant food - threepeeter -2 potato mines -2 repeaters(?) -1split pea -1wallnut every time and every 10 rounds they add a garg your potato mines and plantfood ain't gonna be enough for that the gamemode could've been just a bit better if the plants changed but its the same strat everytime😭

Vasebreaker as a core concept in PvZ2 wouldn't fit as much given how it is still adapted to the days when levelling did not exist and I suppose the devs all forgot that it is on the home screen, not to mention it would've been more permanent if it were a re-occurring Brain Buster like Locked and Loaded, Last Stand or Special Delivery stages.

the weird pvz version where you get squash rather than potatomine and only can play into 2-4 had the best vasebreaker in my eyes (its probably cuz its the first version i played as a kid 😭) bur that mode had a special football zombir varient that was basically a garg that can be stalled and slower and it was so entertaning winning in it because it was really skill and not rng😭
