Great Sunday night entertainment, thank you Pat! Some cool German Death Metal gems there! I still have my old "Hallucination" Atrocity shit. I grew up with that s**t. Saw Massacre live with Morgoth and Immolation in 1991. My first "new" Motörhead record was "1916" as well. They played my hometown with The Cycle Sluts From Hell (feat. Bobby Gustavson). I guess I´ll have to pull out the old WWF VHS tapes now, hehehe...

I had no idea Bobby Gustafson was in the Cycle Sluts. At some there was a Sick of it All member in that band too

You nailed the definition of "Leather Jacket pop punk" haha. Sugary but not to sweet. Songs about hating yourself but not with the goofiness of the Fat/Epitaph sound ( which I also love). Some other examples are Teenage Bottlerocket, Chixdiggit and Masked Intruder.

I never really checked out those newer LJPP (there, it's a clumsy acronym now, let's gooo) bands but maybe I should. Are any of the members terrible people? I kind of need that for that particular genre. J/K.

The Vindictives are great. JoeIy's wife used to own an awesome record store called the Dummy Room. It lasted from 93 to 98 and stocked tons of killer tunes. Great video, as always.

I remember reading about The Dummy room in MRR all the time. The Vindictives song of the same name is one of their best too. I didn't know Joey's wife ran the place though. That's pretty cool.

Hey Pat, great video with some awesome albums here! The Scorpions, Depravity, Suffocation and others. Phlebotomized rules too!! As does wrestling! It has gotten a bit better in the last couple years, but the old school stuff is still the best. Love that you put Roddy in your intro. Take care!

Loved hearing the wrestling talk. I grew up watching during the 90s. I was off and on. I haven’t kept up with it since like 2009 but I’ve always loved watching stuff from the 80s and 90s. I got back into new wrestling last year. It’s really good. I actually can’t believe how good it’s been.

Yeah, I kind of want to check out AEW, but I can't seem to find an easy way to do that without paying for sling. WWE is definitely good right now. The new NWA was really good before COVID shut it down.

Pat, great video as usual. I’m very impressed by how efficient you are with your time - your encyclopedic music knowledge, video games, raising a young lad, watching wrestling videos, podcasts, and still managing to name-check Laura Loomer and Andrew Tate. Edit: Love the little Depravity cold plunge skit btw! And your take on messing with original artwork

Poison Idea IMO is easily one of the greatest bands of all time. If they could have kept it together I think they could have had commercial success. Anyone into hard music references feel the darkness. You should check out their last record 'latest will and testament' which I believe came out in 2006. Shit blows everything out of the water as far as hardcore punk goes at that time. Pig champion STILL had riffs. The song With/against from that album is an absolute ripper. The grave mistake records camp of kids at that time could only dream of writing a hardcore song like that.
@GroundZeroSalemАй бұрын
Yeah, Latest Will and Testament rules, as does Confuse and Conquer from 2015ish. My intro to PI was By the Grace of God covering Plastic Bomb and then buying the first 3 releases on Taaang! Cassettes for dirt cheap in Boston, as cassettes were getting phased out of stores (late 90s) and that labels stuff was everywhere. Good times!
@rubberlover666Ай бұрын
That Ramones-esque pop punk (that I love) I've always heard it referred to as "Mutant Pop" pop-punk, referencing the 90's label that put out ten million releases by basically every band that sent them a CD-R all called something like "The -ingtons"
@GroundZeroSalemАй бұрын
I remember Mutant Pop. Boris the Sprinkler and D4 were on there. Prolific label!

I know what you mean about Roky/The Wipers in the 90s. I think tribute albums played a role. I know I discovered both of those artists around that time that way. The Scientists too, who are cut from somewhat similar cloth.
@GroundZeroSalemАй бұрын
Huh, never heard of The Scientists. I got to catch Roky at Chaos in Tejas a few years before he passed. Billy Gibbons came up and jammed with him, super cool to see. I wish I was more familiar with his music then.
@melvinramone2605Ай бұрын
@@GroundZeroSalem ZZ Top were one of the bands on that tribute album (they did the same song as Jesus And Mary Chain!). I got to see Roky a few times, including once on Devil's Night in Detroit and once just a few months before he passed. The Scientists were an Australian 80s Punk/Post-Punk band. Musically kind of a midpoint between The Birthday Party and The Cramps. They were a big influence on Mudhoney and The Melvins covered them too. If you like that kind of thing they're worth looking into.
