Instead if you rotate it just so you create an optical illusion of a square shape (the outline of the pyramid becomes square by combining two triangle sides to make one square) Once squared off it will fit. I made one of these with my 3D printer. Only difference was mine didn't have bars on the sides of the cage, it was solid walls on the sides. And I would present the puzzle to a person with the pyramid already inside the cage, and ask the person to try to remove it. Much more difficult this way, it's fun to watch people struggle with it. Even if they understand the principle, it's hard to manipulate the pyramid into the orientation required to remove it.
