Hi, I'm one of the 2 guys who ported Carrie, or as she's known here in the video "Secret Agent Zoey", to gmod and I just want to let you know that the budget for porting her was $0, and my total profits for hosting her on the workshop is also $0. I had her ported because she was a cash shop character from some CSS clone and I simply wanted to allow people play as her for free without having to pay hundreds of dollars to do so, and it's quite sad seeing these DarkRP servers twist my upload back into being a cash shop item that people have to pay for yet again. I remember I was in a Star Wars Gmod server. I was in a certain team, can't remember what it was, just that the main color was orange. I often went in there as I was a kid, just having fun RPing like I was a stormtrooper, going on a few missions with the squad. One day, I got bored of it and decided to do some other things instead and only came back years later when I hit the teen age. Honestly, I would've hoped they'd be happy to have me back, but to my immense surprise, I was not welcomed but questioned on who I was. I tried to explain myself, which it didn't work out much. I didn't want to get degraded back to the first rank since it's a real pain to get an upgrade, so they made a parkour I had to go through in the hopes I could integrate their squad again. Apparently, that was something necessary to be completed by all members, which I didn't know before. I tried my best, but unfortunately I screwed up on the first few jumps and I was only given like, one attempt to do this. It was near impossible for me to get through it. My last hope was only one person with a small memory of me, but I didn't take it. I regret it, cuz I got executed not long ago with a lot of other members of the server to see. I never went back in there afterwards. I could've done things better on my end, but I wished there was some better treatments than this.

My irl buddy ran a really popular DarkRP server back in high school. He was making hella money off memberships. Then he used that money to hire a modder to make custom mods for his server making it even more popular. Ended up adding insanely high priced packages to the server like custom made classes/jobs just for you, expecting nobody to buy them. One kid payed over $1000 so he could have a class with a custom skin that spawned with a knife, pistol, and M16. Which led to other tryhards to be like oh shit we need custom jobs too. Dude said starting with an RPG is minimum 5k and starting with a ghost gun is minimum 10K. And he still had takers it was nuts. Dude showed me his PayPal and how much was getting deposited every month and it was actual lunacy lol. Most of it was just monthly memberships but those custom classes probably bought bro his house lol

17:55 I highest server cost i've ever seen a year is citadel servers which is just about $950 last time I checked. So if any admin tells you they need money bad, then they either don't have a job, living with their parents, or they're just complete scam artists and are straight up lying to you. My gmod server which I haven't really worked on for a while is owned by krypton networks, and they only charge about $450 a year. And I pay for the server with my own hard earned money. 14:45 i remember about 3 years ago i was friends with the owner of ImperialRP when they hosted unturned servers, amazing community and friends made there. The owner Mathias was an asshole from the start though and gave me and other of his friends items that would otherwise cost players a lot of ingame money. Mathias and someone on the server who was running his own sort of "PMC" inspired by mgsv got into an argument and i sided with him instead of Mathias. Mathias gave me a shitty ultimatum which was that either i block all of those that criticised him or part ways with him and he will ban me off everything. He was trying to convince me with giving me admin powers and a lot of in game money, but i decided to go with the mgsv guy instead and ive known that guy for like 3 years now, never heard anything from imperialRP except that apparently they now made a gmod server??? When our clan left from imperialRP we took half the community with us too. Never trust a server owner. I was 13 at the time too.

Heya I am sure no one will see this but I used to play on a GamingLight server, I played on it for a little over 2 years and its not just the insanely high cost of everything. Its the community aswell they are all extremely toxic and will player target you and make sure you can never actually do anything. What I mean is if someone is a higher staff rank/rp rank and they dont like you thats it you will never actually be able to rank up or anything they will just make sure you are stuck there forever without telling you anything. And the higher up staff members is blatantly abuse there powers all the time even break rules but u cant do anything because its so currupt is unbelievable. I was only there so long because I had friends there but I left and I am so happy I did, and I am also happy such a big name is finally bring attention to this absolute scam thats been going on for years.
