Just another mass produced option. Support your local shaper 🙂

It's an argument that loses power in the face of surfboard manufacturer marketing, yet all the boards ridden by professional surfers are nearly exclusively custom made by their brand's shaper/s.

For what I see of the Pyzel line of boards I would stear clear of the Shadow, Red Tiger, Power Tiger, Mini Ghost. Radius is amazing in indo reef waves, High Line looks good as well Ghost is also a winner. Phantom and Alien go great in softer waves. White tiger might be ok but prefer to surf small waves on mid length. I would have bought a High Line before a Red Tiger. My local shapers produce junk so no option there.

I've been very happy with my Shadow. And my Ghost. Not so with Phantom and Pyzalien, although Pyzalien 2 gets positive feedback. I bought the Red Tiger. It's a technical board. Ridden it in a wide variety of conditions now, and had some good surfs on it. Wouldn't recommend it for your average punter, though. Head the High Line might be worth a look. Cheers.

I really enjoy your videos but I agree with the first comment, we should really be supporting our local shapers.

I'd agree that they need support but unlike the old days, most of today's surfers wouldn't even know who the local shapers are. When I was growing up and surfing,we always used to surf with the shapers, so they knew us and could shape based off their knowledge of our surfing and the local breaks. Also, see my reply to the other comment on this. Certainly around here, the local shapers dropped the ball a bit on marketing and are only now scrambling to catch up via social media against the onslaught of mass manufacturing. I had a chat about the dire situation for local shapers with one two days ago. Even those surfing shapers have to decide which way to go. Look at Dylan Longbottom for example.

@tui_ruwhiu_wavecomms thank you for your response and all valid points. I'm based near Durban, South Africa, my sister lives in Raglan. We are new to the area and recently went to our local shaper for some repairs. They live in the thick bush, have no phone signal, family run business for 60 years. They specialize in EPS, something I've never been into. After seeing the quality of work they do in an old barn, I walked out of there, knowing I need to order a 2 board quiver. All the locals riding them like one big happy family. Very cool. They have never marketed themselves, and I believe just keeping their head above water with custom orders. Their only problem is their boards are so well built, they last longer than your mass-produced EPS boards. Kee up your videos, lots of us really enjoy them.
