I don't agree the breakdowns equal drama. I would watch a roadtrip with a sick vehicle, cool scenery, junkyards trucks, weirdos, whatever, all day long.
@minitebuhzed45375 жыл бұрын
So what your saying is watching someone or two someone’s master their craft and show how real technicians they are isn’t drama maybe you need to look up the definition of drama it’s not always dramatic if it creates tense and or moments whether or not you question how or what is going to be fixed or figured out in that situation
@TheRealFLX817 жыл бұрын
I totally disagree about the road trips. Yeah, there might have been not much classic roadkill breakdown drama in those episodes you mentioned, but they had some of the best cinematography in all of Motor Trends history and I think that is because of less breakdowns and therefor more time to shoot great shots. Especially the tow truck episode was amazing in that regard.

30+ years ago, Car Craft ran an article about a GM project where they put an S-10 V-6 engine/trans in a Chevette. Since the stock car was only 1800 pounds, the result was faster than a Z/28 and approaching Corvette of the time, one of the reasons GM never produced it. This sounds like it would be a project made for Roadkill.

Rotsun diff issues: R200 diffs from either 280Z's, 280ZX's or 300ZX's are commonly swapped into high horsepower first gen z's. They use CV joints and don't have the bolt issues you're seeing with the R180.

episode 100-110, go around the world, car budget of 3000 dollars per country. If the car blows up and you cant find parts where ever you are you have to buy another car and keep going, if you can make it back to California you win an ice cold beer. Cars must be driven where ever possible with ocean crossings being one example of an exclusion. Weekly vlogs can fill in the gaps between episodes. Obviously the two of you will need to shuck all responsibility to do this trip, if expense is an issue I recommend you start a crowd funding campaign.4 million of the 5 million subs you have are only subbed because of roadkill, I figure you gotta be able to get at least a couple hundred grand out of them. Go do it.

Rotsun rear end idea: ford 9 inch center section made for an irs. That or 5th gen camaro or mustang etc irs bolted into the rotsun. Cut the shafts you have to fit into whatever mounting system they need using the rotsun control arms just with an updated heavy duty rear end.
@joshuabecker45207 жыл бұрын
Was thinking of the Rotson an in Australia we change the rear ends out for the 200s/s13/s14.. can get loads of gear ratios and well its nissan too. Holds up to the HP you have and still interpreted rear.. Gearbox T56 or grab a 350z gear box.. 350z gearbox has a 1.1 5th gear and hold up again to the HP but saying the T56 will bolt up the the ford engine with no mods.. Cool show and looking forward to more.

@paullevasseur84547 жыл бұрын
You should be able to fix the Rotsun axle issue by threading in studs to the axle flanges . Then you can make the threads as long as you need to be able to get stop nuts on them where the bolt heads used to be. Weld the studs to the back sides of the flanges for a little extra insurance. Is there any chance of adding extra holes to double the number of bolt holes (8 vs 4) in the flanges and outer CV shells?

For me best episodes was like the cdua where they start with a shell, build a car from parts and then accomplish something, if theres a small road trip there then thats icing on the cake. Totally acgree with mikes "so much in, so much out" theory, have had the same thoughts for a long time, also when you're pushing so much like freiburger your memory gets worn out like a cylinder bore and it cant hold onto things anymore. Would love the rotsun be done properly with as few compromises as possible, NO SOLID AXLE with that much power and so little wieght its practically built for drag racing (just dont hit the wall), just stick a good rear end in it and while the stick is more fun getting an auto in it probably wouldnt hurt too much (make it heavy though).

How about a roadkill show where every decision you put to a Facebook poll? Got to junkyard, choose 3 cars, Facebook decides which car. It has issues, Facebook poll decides what's fixed what's not. Should it be sprayed or turbo...? Quick poll.. just like those adventure books for years ago

The Datsun rear end will take a LOT of abuse. Swap it for an R200, and CV axles from an '84 to '86 turbo 300ZX, and it will take even more. Weak point is the uni axles, CV axles take a ton of power in the 240Zs.
