Oh Pea!! You can’t imagine what that ending has done to lighten my heavy heart. Ten minutes later and the tears of joy and relief are still flowing. When you interviewed Jen I noticed her seriousness and stoicism. I thought....how incredibly sad to see such a beautiful young person with such resolve and strength of character resign herself to the hard path on which she has landed. To accept it as her fate. No shred of a smile or joy. The beauty for me during that interview was the demonstration of human spirit and determination knowing the long, hard row to hoe and no bitterness. What a kid!! Helping - one person at a time - Genevieve - a 21 year old house cleaner and care giver to older people, a special needs child, and 2 other adults. Working 2 am until 9 pm for the grand sum of only 4000 pesos a month with no days off. Who in the west would work for 14 cents an hour? It is great that you are able to take her on as your assistant - giving her this opportunity to improve herself and enjoy her 3 year old child. She only has time to work and sleep - that is barely surviving. If Genevieve's mother had dreams for her daughter - I am sure they were for a better life. All the best for Genevieve - may her future be brighter and her goals improve. Maybe some day she will find a good man - fall in love - and have the opportunity to establish a strong family filled with love.
