Put on the props...powered the bird..powered the controller....no calibrations of any kind performed ...touched and icon on the screen - damn thing lifted off and started smashing around the living room like a terrified pidgeon. GREAT!! ( in wifi mode!)

Even if these have indoor capability I don't fly these types in the house. I use little indoor flyers for that.

So when you are doing the compass calibration you can't have any phones nearby. Question, how are you going to calibrated the drone if you cannot see the application which is with your phone? How far away does the drone have to be from your phone when calibrating?

You can but I just set the device and controller on the ground and look down while keeping the drone 4 feet above.

Also in now - at the latest - said to update firmware ..tried..it said insert sd card to update...was not able to progress pass this. Bought sd card ( at huge expense!) And waiting for the mood to try it again. ( very low tolerence for gadjets that dont just work out of the box.)

You are correct it is now in the area that says maintenance mode. Then you go to drone calibration and if it's not there you need to contact fimi support to get it unlocked. Stupid right?

Thomas Young You don’t have to but you are smart to do it when you first get it. Poor flight or no return to home could be fatal.

Well, I just watched your video on Calibrations on Feb 9 2019. I have been looking at the Hubsan Zino pro and the Fimi X8 SE. After all the videos I have seen on your channel, I have decided on the Fimi. The comparison flight you took on March 8, 2020, I think, sold me on the Fimi. The video was too close to call but other features of the Fimi sold me. Thanks for all your videos and information for the beginners as well as the "old salts. Have a great flight!!"

The Stream Room Medina Productions This isn’t a indoor quad. I wouldn’t recommend it for that anyhow. Explore your app settings and you will learn what you can set and change easily.

Just got my 2020 Fimi delivered to New Zealand. Had a great first couple of beginner flights then started it up and went though an update the next flight at about 120m away the remote just disconnected - very scary. Luckily it came back to the home point and i just caught it in the air - the remote refused to reconnect - not sure whats going on. So now going through the calibrations on this vid but the 2020 doesn't seem to have the IMU calibration option - what is this? Enjoying your vids thanks

Alex Partridge They removed it but it’s new so you really should contact FIMI. IMU doesn’t sound like your problem. Sorry wish I could offer more.

Great review as always...I have a noob question, SORRY. I have installed the app on my phone and created a acct.....can't do much without the drone, which is on order. I've done a little playing with the app. I DO NOT have a cellular data plan, so i will not be able to log into the Fimi Navi app when away from my home WIFI...will I be able to fly with GPS and all app features by simply binding the controller to the drone and "enter the device" ? Will I be able to change settings in app ? And if I can fly without signing in, what's the purpose of requiring a email and password !!! Sorry if this is obvious to veterans flyers. Thank you...I appreciate your time, and look forward to hearing what you find...I have the app installed and have signed in at home via WIFI...i also at the opening screen with the X8 picture, can hit the 3 hash Marks ( top right corner) then select login, and get 3 options,,,log in...register....and NOT LOG IN...selecting NOT LOG IN gets me into the app,,,,just not sure if everything will work,,,,I think it will, but again I do not have the drone yet, sooooooo Maybe you can try that ??? mohammed azad What bugs? Are you experiencing any bugs or just listening to those claiming there are bugs? There’s always bugs but not always something you would know even existed. There have been a few updates in August and I’m loading a video right now as we speak. There are no issues with this quad on my end and my video I’m loading will show that.

@@QCGUY so lock, trace, orbit all work fine. Also is hovering and flying smooth. There has been claims, not everything works as it should and I wanted to know everything before I bought one.

mohammed azad Im not one that uses features often so all I can say is orbit is good but even that I like to pilot it and do my own orbit manually. Trusting most any quad to features is where you see things go wrong. They can work perfectly one time and the next have a mind of their own. You’ll notice in my videos I don’t discuss features for the most part because most just don’t grab me or have my trust. As far a being a good stable flyer it is perfect in my book including hovering, taking off, hand catching etc. Right now it’s at $409 in my RC Hobby Shopper Group which is a good price for the FIMI X8. It never goes below $399.

PTraas I suggest you look for videos about that. Different people recommend different things. I start out only running them down to 30% and charge at lower rates. It’s just what I do but then I use them harder and never charge a warm battery or leave them sit for periods of time with a full charge.

I have updated the firmware today and now I can't fly. It says low GPS precision unable to use intelligent flight. A imu test shows it being abnormal. What can I do to fix this?

Paul Morris Is this still a problem? If it was perfect before the update and now this is a new problem after the update then I would contact FIMI and see if they offer a solution first.

@@QCGUY I have emailed them and sent them screenshots of the imu readings. The best solution they have suggested is to wait for the next update(coming soon). I asked why is not possible to roll back/install firmware again, they haven't commented.

Tom DeMare I had two FIMI cables fail in me causing me to lose the app connection which as you know includes fpv. I chose a better 3rd party cable that’s been working great. Not sure if that’s your problem but that’s all I got. 👍

Lucid Aerial Photography Contact FIMI from their website. You have a problem deeper than just cable and firmware unless the firmware needs reflashed which they will instruct you if that’s the case.
