Thank you, I love your style of teaching. I’m 77 and just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, my Dr recommended I do Tai chi every day. I’m lucky I found you and your lovely wife. 🙏

Dr Hoover 5 years ago you posted your Tai chi classes with your wife Veronica. At that time I was curious about the practice for my health. When I discovered those videos I took my very first tai chi lessons from you. Since then I have been doing tai chi on almost a daily basis and reading numerous books and watching several KZbin videos on Chinese medicine and health care. I realize it takes years to be proficient at tai chi but I must say I have already experienced benefits from it for my mind body and spirit. Thank you so much for introducing me to this ancient treasure. And now I shall learn Qi Gong from you as well! 🙏

Dr. Daniel, I first took lessons in Tai Chi from an American gentleman working in Riyadh and took to it immediately. It was spiritually uplifting, we used to perform it in a sunken garden surrounded by weeping trees and a disused fountain. My neighbour’s said it was even soothing for them to watch us perform the “strange form of ballet”. That was almost 20 years ago and as much as I loved it I forgot most of the moves. Alhumdulilah! I discovered your videos 2 days ago and the joy (or Chi?) came flooding back! I felt the Chi following your instructions (you are an excellent teacher) and it was absolutely amazing! I performed it this morning and out of curiosity palpated my Chi again this evening with closed eyes, I sensed a gentle yet firm spongy pressure against my palms. My skin even pressed in (indentation) as I gently bounced off the Chi. I wish I could thank you for this incredible gift in person. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and talent with us. I pray you are further blessed in this life and the next. Ameen

I'm a senior and today I went to a senior class for QiGong and I was so awkward I thought about not going back. Your lessons look so easy to follow I hope watching them will help me fit in with the class and not feel so embarrassed.

Excuse me Dr, i dont know If you still reply to those comments but i have some questions as a beginer: 1-) If there ARE 12 Qi channels in the body, then why we only work with 8 forms? 2-) What can i do If i experience dificulty in breathing, since im overweighted? 3-) How do i peform the Ma Bu pose? I hear many Kung Fu teachers saying that you cant put the weight on the knees, but that seems unavoidable. And i always end up with pain there. Do you have any Hint for that? Thank you 🫳🤛 . ☯️

Thank you for your questions. Here are my responses: 1-) If there ARE 12 Qi channels in the body, then why we only work with 8 forms? This Qi Gong series addresses the eight extraordinary meridians, which are different from the 12 primary meridians. Check out this short video to visualize and learn more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYbJkpyFjdtmqrMsi=1nV_2aldYu5Ac7dt 2-) What can i do If i experience difficulty in breathing, since im overweighted? Check with your physician. If you are cleared to practice Tai Chi and Qi Gong I would recommend breathing faster with the movements and gradually slow down the breathing until you can sync it up with the movements. Most people are not able to perform the movements slowly and match their breath to the movements at first. 3-) How do i peform the Ma Bu pose? I hear many Kung Fu teachers saying that you cant put the weight on the knees, but that seems unavoidable. And i always end up with pain there. Do you have any Hint for that? Think about stacking your joints and bones on top of each other. There are different levels to stances, low, medium, and high. You may need to start with a higher stance at first so as to not put to much strain on the weightbearing joints like your knees. "Slow and steady wins the race" If you'd like to stay in touch and keep up to date with our online and in person Tai Chi and Qi Gong programs, you can visit us at website at www.sohma.org/tai-chi/ or follow us on our social media at instagram.com/sohma_health/ and facebook.com/sohmahealth.
