Nice to see someone else collecting for their own enjoyment, I see so many people collecting to try and sell them to make money. I just love rocks, particularly lake superior agates because I live in an area where the glaciers dropped tons of rocks years ago. But I love just having them to look at, and plus just love to be outside an hear the birds chirp and the wind blow

First video that popped up when I googled fossicking Ewingar. I’m on my way this weekend and your video has me sooooo excited! My only break a year and I go out bush to scratch in dirt to look for cool rocks! I’m glad I’m not alone with getting so much enjoyment out of digging through creeks not knowing what you might find. Thanks mate. Look forward to seeing more!

I went there recently, we had to leave due to wind, tree's dropping branches and falling down everywhere, most likely why the forest has been closed, we had to use the chainsaw to move some fallen tree limbs on the main road out, nice creek and forest, still some sizable trees left by the timber cutters, plan for good weather and be well equipped, long walk to anywhere if you get bogged or stuck.

And those super clear glassy quartz fragments you got are beautiful... well done.👍

That vein of different rock, looks the the other was bedrock. In high mineral areas old volcanic activity in Gondwana times of dinosaurs. Molten magma can be pushed up when plates shift , or just a crack forming in bedrock venting of pressure. Vertical like that anyway. Horizontal is just strata over millennia deposit of materials

@goingwalkabout62822 жыл бұрын
If its been a bit wet I'd say 4wd is better, but not so much necessary. I stayed in 2wd the while time with no trouble, as long as you don't have a low vehicle you'd get away with it. Don't take any fire trails, the main road was pretty good

Im not sure if there are any sites, you could probably get a state forest map? I didnt explore too far into it, only taking one turnoff from the main road in and stopping at the first river crossing. I do carry a hand held gps just in case though

@Going Walkabout ive been thinking bout this alot and was wondering what the laws/ rules are around the border do i need a permit for both states or would my NSW one cover the border with Qld?
@goingwalkabout62829 ай бұрын
Unfortunately no, you need a separate one in QLD even if it is right on the border. Luckily, they aren't expensive in either state and easy enough to get online. Me personally, I'd rather just fossick in NSW if I was close to the border anyway

Yea what area are you based in and what types of things are you wanting to find?
@hazeldawncreations Жыл бұрын
I'm in the sunshine coast! There's not much around where I live. I love any kinds of gemstones!
@goingwalkabout6282 Жыл бұрын
@Hazeldawn Creations you could head to redcliffe, along the beach by the jetty and the reef at Scarborough on low tide you will find chalcedony and agates. Apart from that I'm not sure of much else local. Gympie has a designated fossicking area, but that has been really well worked. It's still worth a shot and good place to learn how to pan for gold. I'd also suggest accessing any creeks in your area that you can get to without trespassing, and just have a look through them. You don't always have to dig to find crystals, most exposed crystals will find their way into the creek systems eventually and tumble down.
@hazeldawncreations Жыл бұрын
Ok great thanks I'll give it a go!
