Aux fed subs are great for live bands because of many reasons I don’t want to explain (but can) but aren’t really that necessary if you’re just djing.

Fun stuff man!! Enjoy new gear videos! This year I got the DDJ1000srt, the Maui 5 Go, and the ape labs cans for my upgrades!

You can also get an XLR y splitter to control the sub volume separately

Nice rundown. What facade is that?
@trinjaminternational4 жыл бұрын
I just added a crossover for the same reason to remotely control the volume AND the frequency if necessary. I've found that the mixer solution only provides a volume control using the aux/booth out. I originally considered your set up for a while but wanted a little more control. Glad you brought it up however, a lot of people don't consider this with active speakers.

I just got this sub and it sounds awesome , question when you go out of the aux to the sub input are you having to use a xlr cable that splits to dual xlr to both inputs on the sub

Its interesting that QSC told you that smell was normal. I just picked up a pair and on my 2nd night out I (and my crowd) smelled an electric burning smell about half way through the night for one song. I had my gains up at about 2 o'clock (sounds like where you have yours) and my mixer was running at a good volume but def not clipping but I turned them down anyway. I checked at the end of the night and the speaker had put itself in protect mode and the speaker was fried. Have you run into anymore issues at that volume since this vid? Im trying to determine if that was just to much for them or if it was a faulty unit .
@DJSolstice3 жыл бұрын
They are meant to slap, so I’m guessing it was just too much for that unit. The first batch of these had some faulty units and I got two of them but Zzounds replaced them all with proper ones

I bought the bubble haze. What fluids did you use for bubble and haze? Want to try and be non toxic indoors and I have seen alot of mixed reviews

that AUX feed volume is probably the same like the booth channel/volume on my sx2 right? I can lower or raise without doing anything to my tops...no need for the mixer board...but tohers that use have had a point to why they use a mixer board. They connect there phone aux cable to it incase there controllers go out or maybe even if there laptop goes out...so thats a back up or great idea to have a board.

Great video, only thing is that you don't have knowledge regarding the cardio mode. I recommend look into it to learn how and when to use it. Great job though!

I have 2 of the k12.2 and plan on getting one of these subs how many people do you think/know you can do with the 2 tops and just one of these subs since you said most of the time you only take one yourself?
@djrowdykep4 жыл бұрын
The K12.2’s are phenomenal I’d say 1-2 subs will probably match the best. If you brought it up to 4 subs with 2 K12.2’s you will probably have a little more bass then highs but if your a bass head and like that louder bass it will sound good lol. But you always have control of the volume. Start with 1 or 2 I love mine. They blow away the KW181 in deepness and loudness.
@muzikmon22674 жыл бұрын
What's the average size of a room that you do with 2 of the ks 118 IN MOST SITUATIONS THOSE SUBWOOFERS TOGETHER WOULD BE OVERKILL.. they also weigh 104 lbs a piece.. You can easily get away with a smaller subwoofer that weighs 60 lb with a couple of satellites for a venue with under 200 people.. I can understand if you're doing a big high school gym or something... not to mention you'll have to own a truck, or a big SUV to carry those things around..
@djrowdykep4 жыл бұрын
I can cover a 200-300 person crowd with heavy hitting bass with 1. But once you get over that amount probably want to add another or more. If you want to keep the heavy hitting bass. I’d take multiple Single 104 pound subs any day over something like a 200 pound Dual 18

If it clips easy how is it better than the 181's?
@djrowdykep4 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t I own KS118’s and KW181, KS118 blows it away. KW181 clips way early even when KS118 is in deep mode. Probably because the wattage difference is quite a bit. KS118 sounds deeper

@@DJSolstice I read a comment on here about a smell, sounds like it was a lemon or something. Bummer if it hasn't worked for you. I've loved and never had an issue with my QSC gear, my 12.2's and 181's, I don't own a 118 so can't speak for that. Either way--kudos on putting out videos like this, it's helpful.
