yo when i worked at a patisserie doing some minor decorating writing was so hard and they just made us jump right into it. i got very good at scraping and redoing the writing by the time i was in my last year working there i was fixing all the new girls writing and fixing all the complaints customers had

the issue with faces is the uncanny valley, and anyone not versed in art will not get the proportions right doing anything more anatomical then a simple cartoon style. Disney characters, anything 3D animation really, most renditions of real people or detailed characters will all be a harsh awakening to the overconfident. just like with the cakes you showed from your early years, its just something you develop a sense for over time and eventually you can spot what and where is disproportioned to be triggering the uncanny valley uncomfortable reaction

@@elementalcardboard never said im an expert. thats what the "if you say so" was supposed to show. its me deferring to the experts. i also said "heaps of cake experts do this" so clearly its a common thing. im not sure of a solution because im not an expert. I can try to guess though. maybe pretzel sticks might help support. or you could bake just a curve in bread dough like pretzel dough to hold it up underneath like a bridge. Just some ideas.
