Demonstration of how to change the angle of a quad plow without a plow motor and without having to get off the quad and manually make quad plow adjustments.

Just saw your video, did something similar but used my rack on the machine instead of eye bolts and my release for angling the plow is a straight pull. I have a Polaris Sportsman 450 HO I used to do what you did with he "Rein" but when the plow rolled it almost took out my steering column so I keep it forward through the rack again but keep a bungie on it so it stays taught. Also kept everything out of the driver side so my elderly father didn't get tangled up in it.

I've been using a variation what you call "the release cord" on my Polaris ATVs since '97, but driving the blade gently into a snowbank or similar soft object to nudge the plow. It's not ideal though, and doesn't always move the right amount or direction. I like your "reins" idea much better! I'll have to give that a try.

@@haroldbennett9537 Thanks Skip! I took inspiration from this, and did something similar (but a little different) this fall. In place of the "reins," I mounted a push/pull PVC conduit rod, attached to one end of the plow and routed it through a guide ring on my front rack. The ring is so the near end of the rod can move around freely with the overall system, but still stay in the correct general area for reaching it. It works very well, better than I expected. No more 'nudging the snowbank' for me :-)

I gotta add, I really enjoy these manual and 'unpowered' solutions. They're a heck of a lot cheaper than a $600 powered actuator, that's for sure! And I love the creativity factor. Added plus: my ATV's battery is already taxed a bit by the winch and its power-sucking nature. One fewer thing drinking electrons is always good!

Great idea and video, the way you jumped on that quad, it looked like you don't need this, lol. I have a different setup on mine, its like a hand handle. I have to reach down wrap my hand around it and pull up. Then turn blade and let it snap back down, it's spring loaded. Any thoughts on that, to release that pin. Thank you

@@haroldbennett9537 almost done with this project. Only thing bugging me is the fact that my plow has 5 set points. Straight, left, far left, right, far right. Make sense? So I have to either hold the rope for the pin until all the way left or right, or pull the rope for the pin, then reign, then pin, then reign. Is yours like this? If not, any suggestions as to how to easily stop the plow from stopping at those partial left and right points? I just want straight, far left, far right if possible. If not, it still beats getting off the quad. Thanks!
@haroldbennett9537

@@TKO-NY mine is the same. When I pull the pin release rope and keep it pulled I can move the plow to any angle of my choice. When you have the plow near you're intended position release the the pin rope and then pull the rein rope slightly left or right and it will click right in to your desired position. It only takes about 6 seconds and is easy to do. If at any time the pin doesn't want to release just lower or raise the plow an inch or so with the wench to release incidental cord pressure but it doesn't happen very often. Hope this was helpful. Be sure to Vaseline the reins and all parts where there is possible friction.

@@haroldbennett9537 very good. Appreciate the quick response! I did take a short cut or 2. I won't lie. A short cut now will be work come spring. It's not quite as "quick release" as yours. I have no garage, only sheds, and the only one with power and heat is full of my tools and not enough room for the quad! Lol. So the other sheds only house my motorcycle, mower, quads, etc. I'm currently out in the dark, back and forth into the toolshed. So yes, I took a shortcut, such as my release pin rope is attached with 2 hose clamps. 😆🤣. It seems super rugged. I'm a one man show out here, but once I'm completed, I'll upload a walk around. I have a wanna be go pro, if I can figure that thing out, I'll demonstrate. Thanks again for help!
