Olly, great job in returning to wild camping👍 It looked fantastic up on the hill in the twilight and with that red glow on the horizon. Definitely overdue your dinner at that time of night, though can understand reluctance to eat at a late hour😊 2 pillows is definitely a good idea (and a luxury😊). A lovely morning to continue your walk. Always good to feel the fear and go with it😊👍

Thank you, Gerry. I do feel much better now about future wild camping. It was great to be up there in the early and late hours. I was surprised by the lack of overnight disturbances. Thanks for watching and have a good weekend.

Well done Olly, only we, your your tube viewers know you were there. Looks like you had a great adventure with no bovine encounters to disturb your sleep! Great video. 👍

The Quantocks were looking gorgeous here Olly, just shows the best times to get out and walk is in the evenings and early mornings when the light is at its best and there's hardly anyone else around. Something crawled across your lens at the end I saw! 😂 Have a good week 👍

Hi Patrick. I believe the Quantocks are beautiful at any hour. Sunday turned out to be a hot day so I was glad to be up there in the cooler hours. Still surprised to see others roaming before 7am! Haha, I didn't spot that bug until I was editing this! Thanks for watching. All the best and have a good week.

Enjoyed that, Olly. Some wonderful scenery up there. Just trying to get into wildcamping myself. Jez.
@WalksWithOlly3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Jez. That's precisely why I decided to camp up on the hills and not in the woods - for the views. Good luck with your own camping. I had many reservations about going and could've easily sat at home all evening. It didn't go quite as planned and maybe that's the risk. But having done one, I feel much better about attempting my next. Hope you've had a good weekend and all the best.

Nice night away Olly, looked a good pitch in the morning. Should get yourself a vlog light, makes such a difference for tent talk. I recently got the Ulanzi VL49, it changes colour and you can tell I'm easily amused. 😁
@WalksWithOlly3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Robin. I did actually buy Ulanzi light not that long ago. But completely to pack it for this one. Hopefully next time! I've seen someone else use one... Possibly yourself! Enjoyed your Bob Graham Round last night. Can't believe you didn't try to do it in 11 hours...! ;-D Hope you're having a good week and all the best.

@@WalksWithOlly good lights for the size and price I think. Haha, I'll assemble my team and have an attempt at Jornet's record next time. 😁 You too Olly. 👍🏻

Great to see you out on a wild camp Olly. Perfect conditions for it too. Glad the Cleveland Way plans are on track. I’m sure you’ll love it. It’s a great trail. Sounds like we will both be on long distance trails at the same time. Fingers crossed the weather stays kind
@WalksWithOlly3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Anthony. I'd also realised we'll probably be off about the same time - a shame our paths are unlikely to cross. I'm looking forward to it. Will be fine once I'm off and walking. Hope you enjoy the Pennine Way. I hope to do it myself one day. All the best and thanks for watching.

Thank you, Nigel. I've got a couple of other videos (Exmoor) to edit and upload before I get up to Yorkshire. But yes, I also intend to film the Cleveland Way. Hope you have a good week. Thanks for watching and all the best.

Really good to see you out camping Olly after so long. That's a real barrier overcome - more camps on the horizon I think. After night it appeared to be a lovely place to pitch. Certainly a beautiful morning with a few early morning walkers. I really did feel that morning you were in. Fantastic. All the best. Mark
@WalksWithOlly3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Mark. Oh, definitely - I feel so much better about doing future camps. Even closer to home. Ha, it was quite lovely in the end... But I was in between a network of bridleways! Not a place to linger after sunrise. ;-) Glad you enjoyed it. A stunning morning indeed. I potentially missed a beautiful day for walking but the wild camp meant so much more. All the very best, Mark.

@@WalksWithOlly Yes, I know them pitches close to the action. Gotta be up and away early, which you were. Good to hear the camp meant more on this occasion. Some awesome times ahead.

Nice one olly It really takes same balls to spend the night up on the quantocks on your own. Although I spend alot of time on Dartmoor I've never plucked up the courage to solo on the quantocks even though I only live 20mins down the road. Finishing the second half of your video now 👍
@WalksWithOlly3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much, Dean. I was close to heading back to the car after seeing the cattle lurking. Plenty of 'wtf am I doing?' moments, as I plodded on through the dark. Plenty of shadows to terrify me along the way! ;-) It was a really good experience though. I'm so glad to have done it and will try not to wait two years for my next! There's so much livestock on those hills, I think it's a challenge to find the perfect pitch. You're also never far from a farm and tracks. Maybe the woods would be better? Good luck if you do try it. Thanks again and hope you've had a great weekend.

Hi Martin! Good to hear from you and hope you're both doing well. I've had a bit of a break from walking leading and have let someone else take on the group... But I will return when I'm feeling less burnt out. Hope you have a great Christmas and see you in 2022, if not sooner! :-)

Thanks, Mads! Haha, I think most wild campers are mostly interested in the gear - look at the success of Paul Messner and a few others. ;-) Hope you're able to get out and about. Also hope you're having a good week. All the best and thanks for watching.

Nice one Olly; that looked like a quality wild camp! Stunning location and weather! Sunrise was awesome. I still feel nervous sometimes when wild camping alone..... probably why I use camouflage so much and try to disappear 😊 guess it’s like anything the more you practice the more skilled you become..... you look pretty skilled to me 🤙 Good video and thanks for taking the time to document and share this adventure; very good; all the best; Gilly 👍

Nice video mate. I’m off work for a week next week. Planning a wild camp on the Quantocks. I’m in Taunton so not far. I’m a bit nervous about doing it alone, but I’m going to push myself. I’m sure it’ll be fine.
@WalksWithOlly3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tommy, I was really nervous as well. So I made an effort to get there early and scout around before dark (well, that was the plan). I then realised it's unlikely to see others once it is dark... Although a few were about as the sun rose. I wish you well with it. Such a beautiful place, glad you have it close to home. All the best and thanks for watching.
