I hope this is true, because even though I don’t have a problem with Marilyn Monroe, it was incredibly disrespectful to wear that dress, especially when she was told otherwise for meeting the queen. She wasn’t wearing a costume or a mockery of authentic traditional clothing nor spicing up traditional attire she dressed as Marilyn Monroe. But in a polite way and with respect and authenticity. She’s an American beauty but the moment wasn’t a show or performance. That’s all she really had to do.

It's nice to know the full story behind this... one of those, "not as it seems" situations. Just the fact that she licked off her lipstick out of nerves, shows that she must have been beyond nervous & embarrassed, knowing that her dress wasn't protocol, but was trying to keep her head up about it... the Queen was all class with how she handled it too!

For all of you who are not informed, Ms. Monroe was in England to film "The Prince and the Showgirl." She was the producer of the film (meaning, she was the boss!) She created her own production company, which gave her creative control and more money. She was married to Yankees baseball legend Joe DiMaggio and playwright Arthur Miller. She divorced both men because of their controlling natures. She is the one who created her public image and had complete control over it! She knew it was all an act, and used it to her advantage! That is the reason why she is such a legend. She may have had a tragic personal life, but she was not a victim, or a fool! RIP Ms. Monroe!❤❤

It's likely the Queen never made any such comment. She would have been coached most of her life to be gracious and never gossip. Probably the 'quote' came from someone close to Marilyn, or was fabricated by the media. It is also peasable that Marilyn pared down her make up out of respect for HM as it is reported her gown for the occasion did not arrive on time and she felt a little embarrassed by the one she ended up wearing. Her hair has definitely been styled differently.
