The last words Freddie Mercury recorded was this song. He didn’t even get to finish it before he died. The crazy part is that his last words he actually sung in this song was “I can take it if you see me cry... I long for peace before I die”. Unbelievable.

Freddie left such a magnificent legacy of his music and his showmanship - anyone who saw him either live or on video will never forget his mesmerising presence on stage. You could never take your eyes off him. Not forgetting the other members of Queen of course - all brilliant musicians - we are so lucky to have had their music. He always felt his music, you hear it in song after song, and see it in every video and documentary. Yes we love him and we miss him. Every. Single. Day. Not many people you can actually say that about during your lifetime. Family members certainly, however mine led long and beautiful lives, and I spent a lot of time with them. I spent a lot of time with Freddie/Queen and their music too. He is gone as well, but way, way too soon. Just a few more years and there would have been medicine that would have saved his life. The timing of it all. You will find as you get older that life is short and you just never know. He was a beautiful man with a beautiful soul. ❤️

He was amazingly strong and positive until the end. I don’t know if you’ve reacted to ‘A Winter’s Tale’? Freddie wrote it at the end of his life, just before he returned to the UK to die. Some say he wrote it looking out from his hospital window, others from his apartment, either way he was looking out at his beloved Lake Geneva in Montreux. It is a list of all the beautiful things he saw and felt. The last line is “It’s bliss”! If a man dying can see and feel bliss, we should all stop complaining about the little day to day nothings. Such a gorgeous, inspirational song. Legend has it he recorded it in one take and the music video features his handwritten lyrics.

Roger said it gave him something to get out of bed for... the mid section music gets me hard because at that section, particularly...you know from Freddie's last verse he had died....then Brian completed that last verse... Other band or singers would cancel for a bad cold, Freddie continues with a bad throat in Live Aid and still sings better than most dying...with Show must go on to Mother Love.
