He was Zoroastrian and studied a lot of other mystical subjects. When he says "I like to incorporate all these forms into Queen", it's also reminiscent of Zoroastrian culture which blends in with its surroundings and borrows from them. He wore a lot of black&white onstage (dualist religion). His character was modelled on a "fallen priest" identity, which he then relinquished to "higher love". Very complex, but nice!
