As a matrer of fact, beyond the tribute, the Queen team asked George to sing with them and replace Freddy in the band. After George first live performance, they all agreed that Freddy was irreplacable, despite George undeniable talent.

It's great to see and hear how a singer - so different from Freddie - has managed to make one of the most powerful and legendary rock songs of our time his own. I think George's version at the tribute concert was one of the best vocals that I had ever heard live. This was a massive turning point for George where everybody watching suddenly appreciated his immense talent even if they weren't a fan. I would like to comment on this comparison. First both had amazing clarity and crowd participation. Both have amazing, powerhouse voices!! The original, I believe was a great performance and showcase of Freddie's talent. Who can sing like that? Then there's Michael, a true artist of great caliber. I agree. You can't compare Freddie with anyone. He had a 4 octave range that many singers can't reach. Although MJ (4), Prince (4), Whitney (5), and Mariah (5) had ranges from 4-5 octaves (respectively). George Michael had a 3 octave range.

George said in an interview that doing this song for Freddie's tribute , he was very emotional not only because of Freddie's death but that his boyfriend, Anselmo would meet a similar fate .He also had Aids . Anselmo died 2 years after Freddie , but at that time they didn't know how long he had either.

That is a very common sentiment but did you know the scriptures tell us details about this? God is loving and would never take someone from their loved ones. Job Ch 34 verse 11 says "For a certainty, God does not act wickedly". Also there are a myriad of angels as indicated in Revelation Ch 5 verse 11. If God wanted another angel he could simply create one! The truth is unfortunately people make decisions for which there are consequences. These men lives very high risk lifestyles that caught up with them.

Two of my all time favorite singers, and I'm sure that Freddie would have appreciated George's performance and felt honored. It's nice to see new generations appreciating both of them, they are standing the test of time, I just wish that they both had had more.

Two brilliant singers each had their own unique style both talented song writers and performers. The world is a much sadder place with these to great talents gone. in my opinion, it's quite impossible to make a comparison between these two amazing performances. Freddy was singing a 2hrs+ concert and had to save his voice for the latter songs, George had just a few minutes on the stage and could deliver 100% of his power in the song. By the way, George's song is my favourite in Freddie's tribute.

@Black Dog I'm not musically educated but to me George's performance is just so much better. To me he sounds like he has a full technical control of the song while at the same time pouring his emotions into it, meticulously interacting with and singing off the band and the choir and holding the whole audience on the palm of his hand. He is at he same time the central piece and just an equal part. Freddie has a tremendous voice but this performance sounds a bit rushed and forced compared to George's.

Comparto en que si bien cada quien en su estilo y en su lírica pero tanto Freddie como George en el escenario eran dos peces en el agua por naturaleza, hay que estar allí (en el lugar de George) asumir semejante responsabilidad, cantar al lado de Bryan May y (de alguna u otra manera) "llenar los zapatos" del gran, inmenso y único Freddie a pesar de que si hubo hombre en este mundo capaz de hacerlo fue George Michael y le quedó de taquito, la cara de Brian May al final lo dice todo, la soltura, la comodidad con la banda y con el público, eso no es para cualquier reguetonero ordinario que ni balbucea y hoy el marketing les hace creer que cantan encima!!!

I was at this tribute concert and George Michael was the only Artist who came even close to singing like the incomparable Freddie Mercury and that is high praise indeed. Even Brian May was applauding him at the end whilst Deacon remains lost in thought and Taylor looked drained of life. How must they have felt listening to another perform their long lost friends favourite song and so beautifully? Sad.
