I loved SANDIE doing Hand in Glove with the Smiths backing her as it was a giant step forward to do such a rocker like this. Thanks Morrissey.

Sandie Shaw, Cilla Black, Dusty Springfield, Judith Durham, Petula Clark, Lulu & Shirley Bassey. All great 60s British singers.

Sorry, Judith Durham was an Aussie. She made her mark in the UK.

I agree and a lot more classier. They would wear mini dresses. But never overly short. Or showing too much cleavage. Unlike some of the trollops as my auntie would call girls like that. Great role models those singers you mentioned.

Sandie was so good in the 60's . She recorded some great songs. Many of her 'B' sides were gems.
@philipprice39933 жыл бұрын
Yes Nick I agree re the B sides - Long Walk Home should have been an A side as should Keep In Touch, Turn On The Sunshine, Voice In The Crowd, Pity The Ship Is Sinking and Maple Village - all should have been A sides. Had they done so I am convinced she would have had far more Top 20 success.

Sandie Shaw has a lovely voice and I love all of her songs. My favourite is You' ve Not Changed. All the songs were good in a Song for Europe and am delighted that Puppet on a String won Eurovision in 1967. I became a Eurovision fan in 1972 and still am.

Sandie Shaw was the best. Better than the rest. With respect to other female vocalists who where great. But in my opinion Sandie was the best. She started in the sixties and nailed it in the eighties. Over and out!

I love the way this lady transformed herself from singer to professional health care worker. I myself went from miner to lecturer so know that journey Sandie. Well done kiddo! You will, for me at least be that icon of the 60's we all thought of as, 'the new Garbo' and I wonder if you did mimic that image? If so, well done!

Lovely to see this. I had a sister who was over a decade older than me. So I heard a lot of her records. ( I'm 60 now) When she flew the nest. I inherited most of her record collection. Sandie Shaw singles. Lulu. Dusty. ect. Have fond memories of being a 10 year old listening to those singles. Sandie looks lovely for her age. Not all botoxed up & plastic looking. x

Oh how I love watching Sandie make a reference to her former manager who had been hating on my most most favourite album "Reviewing the Situation" 🏄💖🎼🙆 oh what an album and what songs! Formidable line of work put together on an LP 👍 Thank God this LP has just had a re-issue for RSD 2020 💖

Sandie Shaw was the greatest of the lot. Her albums are superb and she was able to establish herself as a singer-songwriter in her own right during the 1980s with the Choose Life and Hello Angels albums.She always had superb interpretation skills of major songwriters including Harry Nillson.

Always thought Sandie had a bland voice but was very attractive.Some of her 80s stuff showed her voice off better. Her hit career was short ,about 6 years then she virtually vanished until her short lived 80s comeback.Seems happy away from the business.Good for her.

1. Blondie is not a person. 2. There is a New Wave band named Blondie. 3. The singer in that band is Deborah Ann Harry. 4. Her name is not Blondie. 5. Chic is not the same as Chick.

Very Interesting Comment - yes Songwriter Chris Andrews was to Sandie Shaw what Chris Stein was to Debbie Harry. I think Debby Harry was very much aware of how Cool Sandie was in the 1960s and what impact she had had. It is a shame the four of them never came together to collaborate.
@nawyecannae53 Жыл бұрын
I think the comparison is a pretty fair one. Both had a unique presence when performing and were totally fascinating. Sandie’s career was a lot shorter but her impact was no less in her period of fame. Either of them could have worn an old sack without lessening their appeal and they both knew it. To equally appreciate them I think you had to be there.

Sandie didn't have the perfect voice in the sixties. She had more range and depth in the eighties. Sandie is fascinating and she continues to fascinate with her persona. I'd love it if she would record again. Do check out her great eighties album, Hello Angel.

I never liked Puppet On A String, I saw on telly in 67, even to this day disliked it. Always Something There to Remind Me 1964), or even Long Live Love 1965) would have been better choices for Sandra.
