Yeah its really hard to be mad as a fan just because they are really trying to get a rise out you. So it just comes across as funny and some of their points do hold water but it really just depends on your taste. Some of Joshs guitar riffs are deliberately trying to be infuriating or childish so to see grown men foam at the mouth is hilarious.

Queens of the stone age ride or die fan here, also of the mentality that Josh Homme can do no wrong and everything he touches turns too gold. I would say very good critique of the band. First time I saw someone with good arguments against them. Can't say that I was mad especially when you started railing on Kyuss since most of that shit was spot on. I would say however this band is definately great to listen to high.

As someone who considered QOTSA my favourite band for many, many years I have to admit there's not one of their album I'd listen back to back, there's a lot of throwaway stuff they recorded, lol. At the same time I think there are not many songs that hit as hard and precise as "millionare" or "song for the dead", among others. Great podcast btw - seems like you know your music. Subscribed.

The Melvins are great and Bullhead is a heavy fucking album and they influenced a lot of bands but you guys give them way too much credit. Don’t be the guys that claim the Melvins should have been bigger and people just don’t know them because other bands being “overrated” outshined them. The were huge in the 90s and were heavily associated with Nirvana and played arena shows with them. They had ample promotion in the 90s. I wouldn’t call Buzz washed up but they didn’t really stand the test of time for a reason: their band isn’t as great as Buzz tries to make them out to be, and I’m a fan. Also there’s a part in Honey Bucket that straight up lifts Nirvana’s Negative Creep, tempo, drums, and drop D chord and all. So let’s not get carried away with saying the Melvins were the best this grunge ever touched.
