I couldn’t click fast enough 😁. “Domesticated Animals” is maybe my top song from this album - the strut and swagger of that bass! “Fortress” is so beautiful it makes me want to cry. The band released art videos for Villains recently, and it brought me back to listening to it. Fans of their dirty, sludgy sound hate this album because it is so opposite. I love all their stuff. The re-listen had me dancing around in the house. And yes, QOTSA is on heavy rotation in my car.

Yes! Finally! This album is sort of infamous for having the "least good" production of any Queens album as they recruited Mark Ronson for this record, also it seems as though (based on the teasers and leaked liner notes) that there may be many many more moments like this: 11:06 to come on In Times New Roman
@ignoblesavage5559 Жыл бұрын
so...FORTRESS was a song JHomme wrote for his daughter & 2 sons that he really intended for them to listen to when he is gone...about understanding that, through their fears and bad times, he's there for them. he said himself: "I want to make someone misty-eyed, then I want to see them happy. I want that spectrum." he pretty perfectly nailed that, especially when you know it's a song for his kids.

It's a really cool evelution for Queens. Also can't wait to see you react to Un-reborn again, The evil has landed and Villains of circumstance
@Bevtone Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say too poppy necessarily although I agree with the sentiment, you must understand many people who got into queens did so via kyuss and queens early albums and fell in love with desert rock so like clockwork and villain's really do sound like pop albums in comparison, I get the impression that newer fans don't understand the kyuss ethos which isn't necessary to enjoy queens what so ever but gives you an idea as to why the fans don't like this kind of polished product, it's a departure from the exact reason they liked the band in the first place.

Love Fortress and Head Like A Haunted House from this album. For me the song are a bit underwhelming after Head Like a Haunted House, which is a bit of a weird duck on this album. It seems oddly out of place, and I found it jarring at first. But it actually became my favourite song of the album after a while. The overall album is definitely good, but I just prefer other albums just better. For me it's 1. ...Like Clockwork 2. Rated R 3. Songs for the Deaf 4. Era Vulgaris 5. Self-titled/Lullabies to Paralyze/Villains I have difficulty ranking the last 4 though. Top 3 is fixed. Cannot wait for the new album though.

I think the opinion on this album diverges a lot on songs 1,2 and 4 (second half of the album has more consensus). For me personally - Feet Don't Fail Me is not bad but it's pretty forgettable. Nothing like Millionaire, Turnin On The Screw or even Feel good Hit of the Summer. - The Way you Used to Do is by far their weakest single for me, I'm not gonna compare it with No One Knows or Little Sister, but even next to I Sat by the Ocean or Sick Sick Sick stands no chance - Fortress has a lot of beauty but it's a super simple song (and at some point repetitive), I think it would be a side B of another album. For other folks, songs 1 and 2 are their favourite opener and single. This changes A LOT your opinion of the album. Even if you absolutely love Domesticated Animals, Un-Reborn Again, The Evil Has Landed and Villains of Circumstance (which is my case), this album of 9 songs with 3 skippable songs is by far and inevitably their weakest album (and I tend to skip Hideaway as well lol). Looking at the other ones by date order: - qotsa: 11 songs, solid desert rock album, not a lot of highs but no skippable songs; - R: 11 songs, with at most 2 skippable songs; - Songs for the Death: 14 songs (counting Mosquito masterpiece), at most 2 skippable songs; - Lullabies To Paralyze: 14 songs, even if you skip like 3 songs (depending on the taste), there's still a lot there; - Era Vulgaris: 11 + 3 incredible bonus, at most 2 skippable songs; - ...Like Clockwork: 10 songs, but we forgive it because it's a masterpiece, at most 1 skippable song. With Villains, I have a 5-6 great songs album. For another band that's an amazing album. For Queens of the Stone Age, that's by far their weakest. The level is really high😎
@mynameismattfirered9276 Жыл бұрын
Every song on SFTD is just the same riff repeated for the whole song, i dont understand how people can accuse Villains of being repetitive
@rwt2320 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. I'm one of those people that adore the opening three of villains, and thus it's 9/9 for me and their only one with no skips. Looking to get my first queens vinyl and I think it'll be villains, though not quite sure yet as Like Clockork and ITNR with that sexy cover are both also calling my name. But yeah all of their albums are at least 7/10s, most of them higher. "Worst qotsa album" is not a very meaningfull title when the band is that good hahah.
