And the backup vocals are no slouch, either. This band was criminally underrated. I feel like they got lost under the hype of mid-80s new wave and then bands like GnR, and Empire was released right when grunge was introduced to us in the 90s. Empire was one of my fave albums my freshman year of high school, but I was definitely paying more attention to Nirvana, RHCP, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins and the like.

Gosh, the performance on the stage, it's just simply MAGICAL!!! I will stay faithful fan of Geoff Tate forever, Queensryche as well, off course, but only to the point of him leaving the band. Wish them good luck and all the best, but I just can't bare their songs with someone else singing. Tod have a great voice, no doubt, all respect, but without me! I had an older brother who introduced me to the music of the 80's while my parents preferred the music of the 50's and 60's. I guess I got the best of both worlds. I stumbled upon queensryche by accident when watching MTV one day as an 11 year old (early 1991). It was when one band a week would host an hr of music throughout that week. You and I Long to live like the wind upon the water If we close our eyes, we'll maybe realize There's more to life than what we have known And I can't believe I've spent so long Living lies I knew were wrong inside I've just begun to see the light Long ago there was a dream Had to make a choice or two Leaving all I loved behind For what nobody knew Stepped out on the stage, a life Under lights and judging eyes Now the applause has died and I Can dream again Is there anybody listening? Is there anyone that sees what's going on? Read between the lines Criticize the words they're selling Think for yourself and feel the walls Become sand beneath your feet Feel the breeze? Time's so near you can almost taste the freedom There's a warm wind from the south Hoist the sail and we'll be gone By morning this will all seem like a dream And if I don't return to sing the song Maybe just as well I've seen the news and there's Not much I can do...alone Is there anybody listening? Is there anyone who smiles without a mask? What's behind the words-images They know will please us? I'll take what's real. Bring up the lights Is there anybody listening? Idnic Tsal Never said they were alike. I said that they're the same genre. Queensryche is progressive metal, which is a genre that they pioneered; Dream Theater's main influence is Queensryche. Like I said, the bands aren't the same or alike, but they are similar considering they're the same genre. Listen to some of Dream Theater's interviews, you'll see.

That's where I first saw them. The Warning had just been released. Awesome concert.

That's cool.....yeah I saw them open for AC/DC in Sacramento in 1986 and I was blown away. I became a fan instantly. Rage for Order became my "soundtrack" for my Senior year in high school. Operation Mindcrime became my soundtrack for my sophomore year in college, and Empire became the soundtrack for my Senior year in college. This particular song "Anybody Listening?" is a beautiful song.

This song is so hauntingly beautiful. Geoff Tate's vocal is absolutely amazing and the harmonies with DeGarmo are just as gorgeous!! CD was a superb songwriter. I miss the original Queensryche line up so much! They were fantastic!!

In the midst of the grunge movement came one of the best rock bands and one of the best albums of all time. In my humble opinion of course...

Amber G, you were 10 when you first heard of Queensrÿche and their music ?

I'm 40 years old and I've been listening to Queensrhyce for just a year now, and I think how they make these songs more meaningful than what they sound like, not the lyrics, but the choice of tone and the way they set the tempo, is really interesting!!

Geoff's voice is truly amazing!!! I've been listening to Queensryche for decades and I never get enough of the music !!!!!

"Is there anyone who smiles without a mask?" These decades later, might still be the most cutting lyric I've ever heard. Queensrÿche fucking ruled.

Such a great song and such a great voice!! I know it's all about the song, but proud to say that I was given the opportunity to work on this video with director, Matt Murray. The video incorporated footage from a concert in Spokane and outdoors in WA and a studio in Los Angeles (Compton), CA. WOW, 5M views!

He has a very smooth voice but can still hit the high notes as well as the deep ones by far one of the best in the business wish they could fix there issues and get back together so we could enjoy more music
