Detrucci this is an old band. They formed in 1980. Queensrÿche has sold over 20 million albums worldwide, including over 6 million albums in the United States. The band received worldwide acclaim after the release of their 1988 album Operation: Mindcrime, which is often considered one of the greatest heavy metal concept albums of all time.

One of the greatest songs ever written in my opinion. I loved what you said about how they just keep layering. It's true. Everytime you absorb something they add another layer. The video is a really important aspect of this song. The visuals just add to everything being said. Most Queensryche songs do not sound like this and most of their music didnt get a lot of airplay. This was their biggest hit.

1) After the final chorus, the cello closing out the song is actually playing Brahm's Lullaby. 2) When this song first came out, many people were calling radio stations to request "the new Pink Floyd song." LOL 3) Also, beware that when people request you to listen to anything off of QR's classic "Operation: Mindcrime" album, the whole album is a rock opera, complete with storyline and characters. So listening to individual songs maybe confusing lyrically, being that they're part of the plot.

It's about lucid dreaming. Or rather teaching a child how to have lucid dreams. Lucid dreaming is when your mind realizes that it's asleep and dreaming and you can take control of the dream and take it anywhere you want. Most people experience it accidentally at least once in their life. It's happened to me a couple times. there are some people who have learned how to trigger it when they are sleeping whenever they want. It's like a magic land. You can do anything. You can travel to other worlds. Dance with unicorns. fly over the mountains. I flew in the ones that happened to me. Once I realized I was dreaming, I wasn't afraid to fly and i flew around the world and to the moon ♥

I love your passion and joy for new music, Mr. Detrucci! I have been a Queensryche fan since the late 1980s, and they put out some of the best music of the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s. Geoff Tate, the lead singer (sadly, the band has now split but are touring in various permuations) had a stunning voice with a four octave/vocal range. Check out some of their other music to appreciate his amazing range and the bands superb catalog. Thanks for sharing your reaction to what is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, and my favorite song, period. Cheers from Arizona, USA. Silent Lucidity was nominated for a Grammy, and Queensryche performed it live on the Grammys in 1992. You'll be blown away by the rest of their music. I promise.

Lucidity is the state of being conscious of reality as opposed to insanity, dementia, or unconscious dreaming. Lucid dreaming is a state in which one knows they are dreaming and can control the dream. To me this song has always been about comforting ones child against the inevitable loss of their parent and an assurance that in lucidity they can always find that patent waiting to offer comfort and advice.

The lyrics are about lucid dreaming. Some people claim that with certain techniques you can train yourself to recognize that you’re dreaming while you are asleep, and thereby take control over the content and course of your own dreams. This reaction vid is like many others for this song: Reviewers seeming to miss lyrics as beautiful as the musical arrangements because they focus so much on drum hits or guitar work. Here, lyrics like "Your mind tricked you to feel the pain / Of someone close to you leaving the game of life" and "If you open your mind for me / You won't rely on open eyes to see" seemingly go missed because of pauses and interruptions. I wish reviewers would listen to the whole song, without the jarring discontinuities of pauses and comments, really focusing on the music and the lyrics and then comment afterward. They could rewind say "listen to this riff" or "check this drum solo" or "wow, these lyrics are really compelling" etc.

This has a really epic sound to it. If you like epic-sounding songs/performances, check out Alter Bridge's "Words Darker Than Their Wings" Live At The Royal Albert Hall (OFFICIAL VIDEO)" Alter Bridge is the instrumentalists from the former band Creed (who were huge in the 90s to early 2000s) and a really amazing vocalist in Myles Kennedy. I think I may have already requested you do a song by them. Anyway, that performance is truly epic as well (backed with a full orchestra, etc.). LMAO, A LULLABY ... its a song about losing someone close to you and seeing them in your dreams. people do this when a loved one has passed they dream about them and science does not know if it is just the brain tricking ones mind in to dreaming about the loved one or is it the loved one coming to visit you in an alternate reality that we call sleep. in the song the singer Geoff Tate is saying it is the spirit of loved ones coming to visit in ones dream and if you master dream control you can have actual conversations with your loved one who has passed. it helps with the grieving process and puts one at ease knowing their loved one is not only safe, but also not experiencing any pain . and also has the ability to see us throughout every aspect of our lives . the dead keep close tabs on us and tell us what we need to know in our dreams. In fact there was a case study , documented of a husband losing his wife after 43 years of marriage and he would sleep all day and night 15 hours a day because he was communicating with his wife. his three children also had contact with their mother through their own dreams. their father passed away exactly 1 year to the day of his wife passing and he told his children weeks before he died he was going to be with their mother. and he and their mom would always be with them and see them when it was their turn to pass from this reality. years after their father passed they were still communicating with both their parents through dreams. and all three children are convinced they will see them both again when it is their turn to pass from this life in to the next. we are all eternal beings. life goes on after this one. this is why so many people who have passed momentarily have reported being greeted by family members who passed before they did. when they were brought back to this existence they knew in clear detail that it was their relatives they seen, and spoke with before they were brought back or revived . they also reported that having passed they now know that every living thing on earth is connected to every other living thing and there is a universal consciousness . as well as a creator. science has proven this to be a fact. Darwin's theory of evolution has been debunked. not only did we not evolve from apes, Lucy is not the source of our genes, DNA etc. and his theory of only the strong survive and life being based on confrontation was also debunked life is based on cooperation not conflict .

nunyo business ....... I’m a rock n roller from the late 70’s n 80’s but never really dug the metal sound as strange as that seems. This song on the other hand was an exceptional composition and really showed their talent. Most metal is more of an acquired taste as composition seems far more chaotic. This album certainly showcases the talent behind the instruments. This song however, is an instant stroke of our souls and clear beauty to our ears imho!
