This song was written by guitarist Chris Degarmo for his daughter who was having nightmares while he was out on the road. He told her that she's in control of her dreams/nightmares

The theme for this Queensrÿche masterpiece is...lucid dreaming. And wow goes Geoff have a way of delivering the words, eh. They have some rather good concept albums....darker themes, but still fascinating and enjoyable.

In my opinion Geoff Tate has the only male voice to challenge Steve Perry as the greatest voice in Rock n Roll history. I don't want to put any vocalists down but both are at a level nobody else came close to. They both have range, style and a purity that is so much fun to listen.

I'm a brand new subscriber. This is my first reaction video I have seen of yours. I grew up on this band and they are one of my all time favorites. Queensryches album Operation Mindcrime is a concept album. I think you would really enjoy it and you could make a series out of the reaction. Just a thought for you to kick around.

As far as "thought provoking" I would say Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime which came out in 1988. It's a concept album which tells a story with each progressing song. Absolutely their most powerful and influential album

I’ve been a huge fan of Queensryche forever. In 2000 in the span of 3 months my wife left me, my dog died (the dog that my wife and I got right after marriage), then I wiped out on my dirtbike really bad. I had gotten home after a week in the hospital. I was listening to this album and got super depressed and took all the Valium, Vicodin, and one other med that I got from the hospital. I don’t remember falling asleep sleep but I was super bummed when I woke up.

This song is awesome and just one of their great ballads. IMO some of the songs on Promised Land are amazing. “Out of Mind” and Bridge lyrics written by guitarist Chris DeGarmo are powerful and deep. As are “Lady Jane” and “Someone Else” piano and vocals only track. Emotionally powerful and Geoff Tate is just awesome. Hope you get to continue this journey. Enjoy Have a great day! 🤛😎👍

Within so-called "progressive metal" (it's all metal to me), the "Big 3" are Fates Warning, Dream Theater, and Queensrÿche. In no particular order but I see Fates Warning as the best of the three. Particularly with Ray Alder as lead singer (1988-present). Each band has an amazing lead vocalist and the musicianship for all three is top notch.

I'm so glad that you finally got to hear the song. I'd given up on it happening. As far as I know, this is the only slow, thought provoking song that they do. Their other songs, to me, are pretty much 80's hair band songs. But, as you pointed out, their singer is amazing and he has an amazing range (something like 3 or 4 octaves). If you want to see an example of it, listen to Take Hold of the Flame live from Tokyo. He'll amaze you again. Thanks again for reacting to this. Great job!

At times you seemed to become very spiritual and I'm sure many would agree with me but I would love to see you do some reactions to the pulse concert. Pink Floyd. Comfortably numb and high hopes because I have watched so many many younger generation become introduced to concert by them and become so completely blown away by the light show and the unbelievable performance that they put on that they become hooked please think about it I know there's many others out there that would love to see you react to them. It's called the pulse concert 1994 very spiritual. And also of all of the queensryche songs this is always been my favorite it has a Pink Floyd vibe

My dreams are so real I can feel material things I touch. A few times I did not like the path the dream was taking, I would say this is a dream and it's not going to happen. I was at the point just before the bad thing happened. It does not happen all the time and is very rare, probably about 5 times in the past 10 years or so. I don't know how to consciously do it, I just know it happened.

Hi, AO! In my childhood dreams I learned not to go to school in my pyjamas... how flying actually takes a lot of effort... and don't go down the big staircase in the mansion. I think I know what they were all about now. Thanks for the show, especially the ramblings that make you the rarity you are. PS: I'm still bearing a "Lawrence" hangover, but it's beautiful.

@Jessie: Queensrÿche - always was special and fantastic in the Metal genre. Love it! So now you have started with orchestral elements in Metal you MUST get into Symphonic Metal and meet the goddess valkyrie, the best female vocalist in the entire universe. So please fall into THE rabbit hole and start a reaction to Nightwish "Ghost Love Score" Wacken live 2013 - and your life will never be the same. Promised. 🤪

This song refers to lucid dreaming. Where you are asleep and in a dream and then you realize that you are dreaming. At that point most people wake up. But if not you can take over your dream and make it whatever you want. After a while there is a tendancy to forget it's a dream and fall back to normal dreaming. But with practice you can maintain control of the dream for longer periods of time. Some people can even do this on a regular basis. But it can lead to mental issues as the conscious brain is missing it's rest period.
