Well said John Finucane - exposng how the statement "Israel has a right to defend itself" can be interpreted to inflict ongoing large scale violence, and to prevent the flow of water, electricity etc. that results in thousands of innocent Palestinians being killed. All entities need to be held to account, and most politicians, while they do and should call out Hamas's actions, except for the brave few, lack any courage to firmly hold the Israeli government to account.

Motte and Bailey. The terrorist organisation are also the government who use human shields and hostages. They have broad popular support from ordinary Palestinians. The only reason they are put in danger is because Hamas won’t allow them to leave areas they know will be targeted by Israel. It’s not controversial to say innocents should never be harmed, but that sentiment exists in a naive world where the complexities of centuries of history, ethnic conflict and grey morality don’t exist.

Think you’ll find that the IRA had run out of road. Steak knife, Donaldson etc, the IRA was saturated with informers and their friends in the US had no appetite for terrorism after 9/11. Sinn Fein was the vehicle that Republicanism was allowed to continue along.

They bombed the ruling party and nearly killed the prime minister almost fifteen years went by before talks started. There were circumstances and certain individuals involved that made it possible. McGuinness and Adams along with the SDLP leadership being important ones. If all it took was violence then we'd have no problems. There are dozens and dozens of examples of conflicts around the world that have not been changed by terrorism. As I say, clearly a factor but giving all credit to the terrorists/freedom fighters (murderers either way) is a very convenient, romanticized, grandiose notion.

Bruce is the chair. It is her job to press for an answer to the public's question. What he needed to say was "talking about destroying a particular side just makes it less likely that any dialogue can start, so I won't say whether I think they should be destroyed or not. They won't be, without killing everyone in Gaza, so it's a moot point". Instead he refused to tackle it head on, which Bruce exposed, and then moved on, which is her job.

We all know the real reason the DUP won't go into Stormont is because they are no longer the majority party and as they are willing to take up their seats in London and Sinn Féin are not, they are perfectly happy with the situation of no government in the North. The Tory Secretary is also happy because the Tories are failing in the polls and it is not impossible that they will need the DUP again next year to stay in power and so he wants to keep them onside by not trying to force them in government.

No comrade, minors within various legal systems and different from juveniles botg are considered children. Minors being 10 to 14, juveniles under 18. This is complex within legal systems as the age of culpability is 10. Children in Zionists jails are arrested and face military courts, indeterminate sentences. Visits are organised via NGOs and can take up to 3 months. Youngest are 12. As I said 150 minors. Don't take my word for it check out for yourself comrade.
