My transmission is having to be rebuilt at AAMCO..........it's been a little bit of a drag not being able to drive anywhere but I rode it from the place that said they couldn't help me all the way to where they actually work on transmissions and send all their work to this place so I'm happy that even for the delay of not having a vehicle and I'm trying to work as many hours as I can to pay off the 90 day finance company they use it's all worth it my van was used for a florist delivery driving service within this place called trends in Blackstone Virginia and I believe for the profit they rode this poor van to the ground to make profit who does that and then they just toss it to the side instead of fixing it it was easier to fix it wouldn't it be no they just tossed her away on some unsuspecting fool like me but the next thing to go probably would be the engine but I won't be ready for that to somebody said don't you want to just trade it in for another no I want to keep this thing it's really nothing wrong with it it's got to have some brake work done maybe in the in a little while all the time set in the winter that I was having to put it in neutral as I'm driving and the transmission did not do well in winter at all and I had to put it in park countless time I mean I had to put it in neutral after it kept shutting off on the road I could feel it getting this weird thing going on with it I would have to put it in neutral and restart it when it conked out on me so the transmission had I known that was what was wrong with it I would have tried to fix it but right now I'm in a position to be able to do that and get it fixed I'm hoping the engine will be the next to go and I can get that fixed those are the two main things that's the heart and lungs of the whole vehicle anybody's vehicle the transmission and the engine and another thing that it happened to my vehicle transmission the radiator had cracked and antifreeze was leaking into the transmission because it was getting overheated and shutting off had I known last year that was what was going on I would have tried to repair it then but nobody wanted to fool with it because it's a costly repair but I don't want another vehicle I don't want that headache of having to hunt for another vehicle right now I like to fix it up the way it should be oh you're going to be putting money in it that's worth more than the vehicle is worth who cares the part the property tax is very cheap people like you'd rather spend God awful amounts of money on personal property and insurance once some cheap asked newer vehicle then trying to fix the older one and junk yards are full of them the mindset on people to ditch and get new is ridiculous I mean I guess that's the mindset I guess I should have to but I don't I don't relish the thought of having to spend money on a newer vehicle having to go through the hassle of going into a dealership and them wrangling me into it s***** newer car

I want a forward clutch drum like that. I’m worried about pressing the shaft into new drum now though. Looks tricky. I’m gonna be tackling an 03 4r70w soon so I’ll be watching

i am observing all the facts, that you obtained a all new direct drum assembly, added new seals, placed into the groove catch--- as i can recall with any seal, i would use that method on a accumullator piston seal--- no joking

Maybe i missed it, but what symptoms was this vehicle experiencing to need the rebuild? It seems to me that Ford has never been able to build a good transmission, are there certain things that you see in their engineering typical to Ford? I've got mad respect for guys that can put these together and not have parts left over.

In my personal experience rebuilding transmissions my opinion is Ford transmissions are some of the best. GM and Mopar are far inferior.

Enjoyed this rebuild video. If there was an issue with the Factory Forward Drum Assembly.....and you used an Upgraded, improved Forward Drum ( Housing )......WHERE did you order that improved Forward Drum from?? It seems you are working on a 4R70W or 4R75W transmission.....is that Forward Drum problem also an issue on the later model 4R75E Transmission??

Yes, occasionally this problem shows up. You can order the this upgraded drum from Transtar industries. In fact, I just got one today (part# A76554DK)

I've lost all forward gear the got back after I turned key off and on then back to nothing past neutral got any Ideas I already changed the speed c Sensors

Wouldn't you just use a c-clamp or a press for that direct drum?

One can use whatever would get the job done just as long as the part is not damaged during repair.

If it doesn't come apart ...hit with big hammer! I wouldn't let this guy near my truck. 6 minutes in and all I've heard is metal being hammered.

Go watch the first part, he knew & said there was a big internal failure with this transmission before disassembly of this drum. He did nothing incorrect.

What tool do you use on measuring how far to press the input shaft into the forward drum

I have a tool that I had made up at a machine shop that stops it at the perfect location.
