I had to chuckle when you mentioned the last car comment./question. About 20 yrs ago my dad said to me that the car he had at that time (forget now what it was) was his last car. He would have been my current age at the time (72). 10+ cars later and at the age of 92 he is currently driving at 2023 Escape and is probably thinking about the next one (2 yr leases). I don't think there is such a thing as a planed last car. Had to share this one. Great channel Andrea & Zach, really enjoy it.

Re: ZF 9 Speed: I had a 2016 Honda Pilot with the ZF 9-speed, it was not an enjoyable experience. I used to say that it didn't have a gearbox it had a box of gears! low speed shifts were clunky, it would occasionally go hunting for the right gear and down shifting was a jolting experience. In 2019 I had enough and I bought a 2019 Passport, mostly on assurances that the transmission had been improved.... well they were right. The Passport has been comfortable and reliable to drive, the transmission works exactly how it should even at low speed. The V6 is powerful but the best feature of it is the torque vectoring AWD system which I would argue is one of the best in its class. I have driven through 5 Alberta winters, even in deep off-road snow in the foothills of the Rockies and never been stuck. My Passport now has over 105,000 km with an average fuel consumption of 10.5L/100 km (22mpg) which drops to 8.9L/100Km (26mpg) on the highway. Very reliable and I see no reason to change it for the foreseeable future...

Its absolutely possible to live with a midsize to small EV on a 120v Charging. would like to respectfully disagree with 3:20 . Please correct the record. correct me if i am wrong, you guys don't have an EV for daily? correct?. Our Model Y uses 120V outlet (with 16Amp adapter). And we drive it 46miles daily commute + few errands. Past 30 Days we have driven 1283mi (42mi/day) and Charged at super charger or 240 zero times. Its very possible. I'm speaking from 1st hand data point. Furthermore we limit our charging to start after 8pm (when electricity is cheaper).

Great show as usual guy's. I think that the future is EV'S and PHEV's along with hybrids, however the technology is not there as yet and folks need to be aware of the risks. A friend brought a 2017 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid, purchased new. In January of 2024 the car stopped working. The dealer was fully booked up and could only get the car booked for mid April (12 weeks wait) Apparently the battery needs replacing.... estimated cost 13k

Be sure to read the fine print of manufacturers warranties. In the case of Mitsubishi, the 10 year warranty is only to the original purchaser. Not an issue if you keep the car for 10 years, but if you are thinking of selling it in 5 years, the next owner gets nothing, just like they would with any other brand out there.
@Peichen01
@Peichen01 26 күн бұрын
I've encountered the same issue with Hyundai and couldn't get a clear answer. It appears only the 5 year / 60k miles warranty would transfer to 2nd owner but not the 10 year / 100k miles powertrain warranty unless the car is a CPO from Hyundai directly
@jeffer1101
@jeffer1101 25 күн бұрын
@@Peichen01 correct. Hyundai USA did that as well, possibly to compete with Mitsubishi (doesn't appear Hyundai Canada did that, so it didn't affect us up here). Only the regular 5 year warranty goes to the next owner.

My Level 2 charger broke. I used Level 1/110 for a year with my Model Y. I average about 15 miles a day. Level 1 worked just fine. If I drove a lot of miles one day, it would catch back up after a couple of days. Worse case if you needed you could hit a super charger. I definitely agree, if you don't have a way to plug it in, don't get an EV. Not only is it inconvenient, but you're likely to be paying more for electricity and likely be paying as much or more than you would for gas. Also, I got my Level 2 charger when I owned a Nissan Leaf. Its limited range made it more necessary to have a level 2. After I got home, I could plug it in and have enough range for the grocery store or dinner.

The individual with the Sportage vs Genesis dilemma… has to factor in the fact that the $100 extra a month is not a small amount. It is essentially $3,600 more… on a lease! That is hardly an inconsequential amount of money on a lease (a purchase/finance vehicle would be a different matter). I would personally go the Genesis route, but I would go HEAVY on the negotiation (use the high depreciation as one of your tools) … or consider leasing a CPO/demo/1-year old Genesis. A much more refined vehicle. That hybrid Sportage, despite being a great vehicle itself, but I doubt it will make up the whopping $3,600 difference (in fuel savings, at least). Plus… it definitely is not as attractive, in my opinion. Thanks for the video.

When I bought my new 2023 M3 last year I had a real Tesla home charger installed at one of my houses. Cost a LOT of money to do it properly. At the farm, I would use the 110V outlet in the garage that I had installed for my Chevrolet Volt. It did take a little over 2 days to charge the M3 this way. If someone like me (retired) is considering using 110V, I would certainly recommend a dedicated 110V line, professionally installed with a high quality (hospital grade) outlet. The constant draw on the 110V outlet requires the best quality and I would not consider anything but a dedicated outlet. Just using an existing 110V is not a good idea - there are a lot of poor quality outlets for sale.

I can say that I own a GV70 with a 2.5 and we use premium fuel. I avg in the 9 l/ 100km combined. On the highway, we get in the 8l/100km. So yes your tank cost 5-6$ more but if you drive sensibly, I don’t think fuel is much of an issue… unless you only do city and do more than 20 000 km per year. My experience anyway. Our Santa Fe does a little better but not thousands of dollars worth.

Please drive the CX70 🤣. Basically just take the CX90, remove the 3rd row, add very subtle nuances on the outside and add Alexa as a bonus for tech. Oh and also add power folding rear seats and some funky exterior colours the CX90 doesn't have. And there you have it. CX90 and CX 70 are basically the same cars under the hood and not only. They have the same powertrain, inline 6 for the MHEV and inline 4 2.5L for PHEV, I highly doubt there will be major differences in driving them. I hope they ironed out the bugs with the transmission and found a permanent fix for the "malfunction hybrid system" . Other than that I heard Palm Springs is beautiful in May 🌞😎

@GlennLaycock 25 күн бұрын
Warranties - yeah they do cost money depending on (just like insurance) the terms. So read the darn contract or look up the manual and read the warranty terms. Even bumper to bumper - Hyundai said no-no it is not like the old days - called "comprehensive" or something now and many brands it actually only covers things that are very rare to be an issue - one reason to consider the hybrid is a lot of power train "stuff" goes to 8 years instead of 5 here (the dealer did not even know that) - so that is like an insurance and/or risk mitigation. Anyway warranties are worth something - just ask a low warranty brand how much they want to extend that right - so it is statistically evaluated cost just like insurance uses to figure fees.

You keep convincing yourself that 36 hours is no big deal. If you cant afford to add a 240v outlet with like 40A, theres no point in owning an ev.

@@davidcohen2762 it really isnt a big deal. I work from home and only move my car for groceries and weekend errands. This works perfectly so far. You think I can buy a 70k car but cant afford to install a 240v outlet? pffff...

Loved Zacks comment on good looking Tesla! Well, someone has to like the Fat girl at the dance!!! Tesla and looks just do not belong in the same page but performance and range along with network is what keeps them on top!

Dodge do use the 8 speed ZF transmission in they 1500 truck. But if you look at the transmission, you will see tayoda on it, Toyota own the company.

Had a '22 rvr as a loaner while my car was getting repaired. Out of any car ive driven that thing is #1 on the list for being a shitbox. The interior not only looks 10 years old but so does any display which has super pixelated font, the speakers are trash, the seats feel like cardboard, it still uses an actual key for the ignition, no blind spot monitoring, didnt even have a sunroof.

The new Prius Prime takes 10 hours to fully charge its 60 kilometers range with 110V. Using a pure electric vehicle without fast charging means you really don’t drive much, so what’s the point of buying a pure electric vehicle? You will not save much fuel. But those cars are very expensive. You literally buy an electrified BMW X3 for the price of a Cayenne GTS.
