Carlos and Jason make a really point in this video about enjoyment over lap times. It's why I love my Jag XK8 4.2 so much, it is literally physically pleasurable to drive it down the road. Every mile that you drive is actually enjoyable at any speed. There's something about it that's very hard to describe or quantify, but when you're driving along listening to that beautiful v8, with that great view down the bonnet, and watching flecks of sunlight dance over the walnut dash picking up different colours here and there, and when you turn into a corner and feel the car rotate and feel the steering, there's nothing else like it. But I bet it's rubbish on a track and probably not great objectively. But as an experience it's second to none. Oh and by the way it's incredibly reliable and it gets 28mpg. We really have gone backwards in some ways in the car world, but it's nice to know that Mercedes is still clinging on to the idea of actually making a car that isn't a pretend race car.

C63 would be my choice for the exact reason you guys said. Mercedes just does the whole car well and so solid everytime. This is the car to go 140 in on a road trip all day. While going on a canyon and handling stable. Also nice to hear you have a c43... one of my favorite amg's!

Guys what a fucking honest and great review. I had a ton of fast cars and many people judge cars by lap times when this is such a small part of the equation. M3 is great on track but even after 4 laps the car has no brakes and a Caterham dissapears. Cars are about emotion, fun performance at 7/10 when your driving fast to work or gym etc. Loved his honest unbiased reviews

So glad I found this "review" of the C63 S. It really spoke to me and what I have been contemplating. I have test driven both a 2017 M3 (w/ Competition Package) and the C63 S (w/ Exhaust Package). Granted, a 2 mile loop, doesn't really give you a great feel for a vehicle, it does allow a first impression. I loved the M3, but in the back of my head, I thought, "Is it a bit stiff? Would that get old?". After the C63 S test, I was left thinking, "Do I actually love this old man car over the M3?" When I really contemplated both drives, I focused on "real world" driving and I saw myself in the MB. I am going to be 47 this summer, so maybe I am the right demographic. I don't know. The MB seemed to be a well thought out vehicle (except for that stupid iPad stuck on the dash) with attention to detail, while the BMW seemed to be designed for track days. Anyway, it was great to see this video and hear the guys discuss the car the way I have been thinking.

That's a good point about the brakes. In the long run, you might even SAVE money on not having to swap out rusted steel rear rotors. Especially in a street-focused car like the C-class.

Great review nailed it. Amgs are for fun and emotions, not lap times unless you are looking at the GT's but even then there are quicker cars, but not as well rounded.

Yes, thank you for pointing out how boring most performance cars are at normal speeds! In most cases, cars are at their best at their limits, but when the cars limits are so high you could never possibly get near them. Using the BRZ as an example, it may be slow and you may need to plan ahead, but that in itself is an experience, as opposed to, say, an M4, where you just pass whenever you feel like without thinking. And if I was looking for a fun car to drive every day, I would want something that makes me grin at normal speeds, even though it may end up costing it in lap times. I'd take the BRZ over the M4 any day.

Yes I own a 3 seriesf30 330i LCI with adaptive, . Have driven an M5. Drove a 2018 C63 a short while ago. M5 is faster and has awesome grip, much faster than c63 in straight line and bends. Also more comfortable and more spacious the c63. My bm has more space in the back seats, is more comfortable and has better steering than the C63. The C63 just made me smile all the time and yes I want one. Felt usable and fun. Have to get saving for a lightly used one. An unusual technical thing, it’s engine is long stroke. That seems old fashioned and inefficient. Piston speed and frictional losses must be very high at its 8000 rpm redline. I guess it’s to shave a few cm off the engines length. While not really paranoid about fuel consumption have heard some getting 6mpg!? Think before I buy will need another test drive for no other reason than to zero the computer see what I get the way iDrive. I hope somewhere between 17 and 25 uk mpg. I get 28 from the Beamer. Could not live with crazy low mpg in uk where fuel is around 9 usd. Would either keep what I have or consider a G20 M340i else.

My C63 S Estate came around 3 weeks ago. The engine sound is amazing, I've done 1000km and the break-in process still has a bit to go, so no going above 4500rpm :(
