Having worked with this beautiful Chenille yarn... to weave off; I found it best to weave in several directions...back & forth worked best for me, rather than just under the current row in one direction. I also found the afghan I made to be medium heavy. I made it the recliner width + 3 inches wider & the length + 6 inches of my 96 year old mom. Because her legs get cool easily (due to very poor circulation), I added two "leg wings". I used the contrast color, & crocheted the vertical rows only as long as the length of her lower legs (knee to ankle) & enough vertical rows so she CA just tuck the wings behind her legs! I added a pocket [For her cell phone] just below her hips. It was designed using this same HDC V stitches. I chained a length of stitches so she can roll up this afghan & tie it closed with a bow, for easier storage. I chose a peach chenille ĥ the contrasting color was a white chenille yarn. Yes, it was medium heavy. Please realize some people may be uncomfortable with weight of the afghan on top of them.
@HookedbyRobin11 ай бұрын
Great tip thank you! Another trick I've been told about is actually removing the fluff and using the cotton in the middle to weave in with instead and then split it and use them to knot together around a stitch which I thought was quite clever!

I started making a blanket with thick yarn like this. (The yarn was called benet baby blanket, or similar) I wanted it big enough for my bed. A quarter way through my cat peed on it. I tried to wash it in the tub but when it was wet it was like 50 pounds. I can’t imagine if it had been fully done. Now I’ll only make a big blanket with thick yarn if I can dry clean it.

I love your blanket! I've only worked with chenille yarn once before and didn't enjoy using it at all. I still have enough left over to make a blanket (what can I say, it was on sale 😂) so I'm going to make your blanket. I have some of this yarn in my stash and this blanket is so pretty! I had been hesitant to work with it but now I know exactly what I’m going to crochet with this yarn 🧶 You are the best! 😊🤗 Oops! Got a question 🙋🏻♀️ Does the chenille yarn unravel easy? I’ve heard that some crocheters recommend finishing the ends instead with some stitches with regular thread. What is your take on that? 🤔
@HookedbyRobin11 ай бұрын
My take is that is a blimming good idea! The tails are very sheddy and slippery - some people use a dab of fabric glue or another tip is to remove the chenille and use the cotton inside to weave in and then tie that to a stitch :D
@SunCity9511 ай бұрын

Hi !! I have a little question, How do you wash your blanket with this type of yarn ? Because when I wash mine (not a blanket but an amigurimi) the yarn does not return to what it was before…
@HookedbyRobin11 ай бұрын
Most yarn should have the wash instructions on the ball band HOWEVER when I wash my chenille blankets I tend to use a cool wash, gentle cycle (or just spot clean if it's a small area) and then I leave to air dry. I don't risk putting it in the tumble dryer or adding any heat as I worry it might make the soft yarn crispy! If it feels a little crunchy after it's dried, I find a good old scrumple with my hands softens it back up again. Harder to do with amigurumi though!
