"I'm a little teapot, short and stout/This is my handle, this is my spout" is an old American nursery rhyme. :D Though tea coming out part is utterly adorable. :D

I did that to make a bustle pad last week, and oh myyy goshhh it was so many little tiny scrap strings i had to cut that the scissors rubbed my skin raw and gave me a blister, which got torn open and left a little patch of open skin. that was very painful lol

Hello Lucy and that’s the best sewing video I’ve seen as you do some good sewing videos as you’re very clever in what you do and make it enjoyable to follow as one can learn from your skills and I’m lucky that I have a decent level of needle work skills as I’ve done bits of sewing during my years though to be honest I’ve never used a sewing machine and I’d like to invest in a small sewing machine so I can do more sewing work and love how you recycle leftover fabrics and put them to good use as me being a carpenter and joiner when at work or doing stuff at home I like to keep the off cuts and rippings and shavings sawdust etc and use them as timber/lumber/wood is a very valuable natural resource so that’s it for now only I always look forward to watching your teatime videos as I’m an avid tea drinker and you make me cheerful and relaxed when you so your teatime videos so until the next time take care stay safe and cheerio

For the wrist pin cushion I suggest putting a bit of cardboard (or whatever material you prefer) in the bottom, so that if you bump your wrist against something, there's a harder layer that's stopping the pins from going through and stabbing you. I learned this the hard way.

love that cozy. i used scraps the create pattern weights. i purchased flat netal washers in various sizes, made patterns for each size by laying the washer on paper, then drawing a circle twice the size of the washer, used button thread to stitch close to the edge of the fabric, laid the washer inside and drew the fabric around by tightly pulling the free ends of the thread. i then tied four knots. voila! pattern weights.

Ah, the ever growing cabbage patch! Mine started out as one drawer, now it’s two and a half. I really do need to do some cabbage busters. I also need to sort my cabbage, I think- larger scraps I could conceivably do something with, and tiny scraps that are only good for cutting up further and stuffing things with. But there are so many other pretty things to make that it just gets pushed down my list, further and further. I have made a heap of masks this year though, but they’re not as useful right now in Australia, given the lack of covid here. Which is nice, but it means less cabbage busting projects. I think I might make a few scrunches for my daughter though.

I *love* this. Originally I was thinking of making face masks for people in my extended family as Christmas gifts but then I realized I wouldn't be seeing them as they all live in Canada and our US borders are still closed. (And it's astronomically expensive to send mail over there.) But I suppose it would be difficult to make sure something like that would fit everyone properly. :\ Also, that tea cozy is sooooooo cute!! I have a sewing machine in storage but a) It's freaking heavy, and b) I'm so intimidated by how to load it and work it. Oh, and the names for the teapot pieces are a handle and spout

Have you considered sewing your own underwear? Panties or pants, whatever you called it. There are some tutorials you can folllow or just use one of those you already own, as a model. I hate the decorative elastics fast fasion puts right on the thigh area, so it sometimes hurts when going for a long walk. So I am really thinking about sewing my own underwear without those. And a lot of scrap made of good quality cotton sounds just perfect for that.

I’m thinking about learning how to make bras myself. At my size, there is a significant amount of engineering involved, but I think the rewards are worth it.
@juliapalos20774 жыл бұрын
@@marthahawkinson-michau9611 Wow . It has to be really complicated, but go ahead! I don't like fast fashion, it treats us like we had the same body, and of course we don't. I suggest wide and cushion-like straps if you have trouble with the weight on the chest area.
@marthahawkinson-michau96114 жыл бұрын
@@juliapalos2077 I’ve been comparing regency short stays with modern longline bras. They actually have quite a bit in common. I’m thinking a fusion between the two designs might just give me the support I’m looking for, as the compression on the ribcage is what gives the best support. I passionately hate it when my bra straps are digging in, or just carrying too much weight. Presently I wear a light compression sports bra OVER my regular bra just to keep the weight off my shoulders.
@juliapalos20774 жыл бұрын
@@marthahawkinson-michau9611 That's really interesting. And for sure it sounds like a full enginereeing process.
@katherinemorelle71154 жыл бұрын
@@marthahawkinson-michau9611 I think the only real difference in shape between Regency stays and longline bras is that modern bras tend to lift and squoosh together, whereas Regency stays lift and separate. Not an issue for me- even the squooshiest bra can’t get my girls together, so I find Regency stays more comfortable. But ladies who have breasts that are very close together, or even connected, might find something uncupped, like earlier stays or a corset to be more comfortable. Not everyone can fit a one or two inch busk between the girls. And a friend of mine can’t even wear modern underwire bras, because her breast tissue is connected in the middle, and that little wired centre gives her bruises. So she tends to go for bralettes and sports bras.
