The only thing I'd do differently is to roast the pecans for a few minutes prior to putting them into the brown sugar/butter mixture. Roasting pecans really enhances their flavor.

@@jahonk17 It's a culture of its own within the United States and some would argue it's a state of mind. I'm sick of people getting their britches in a wad because someone even mentions a culture or race. Complaining about anything to do with indigenous people or anything remotely related to someone's culture. Wiping out any mention of different races, ethnicities and richly divergent cultures to the point of making history illegal. Yeah, let's all forget about Wounded Knee, Ruby Ridge, and even the Nazi death camps so we can repeat those hideous mistakes all over again!!! Rant finished.

I use evaporated milk instead of water when I make mine & sometimes I don't add the vanilla. It makes for yummy variations of your recipe (the first time I didn't realize that they harden up more after cooling). I always refrigerate my pecans to keep them fresh, & you can always make extra & freeze some for another time. I use them on my salads & also eat them as a snack, but the possibilities are endless for what you can use them for. Candied/Glazed pecans make great Christmas gifts for family, friends, co-workers, mail-person, etc. If you decide to refrigerate but don't want to eat them cold, it doesn't take long at all for them to reach room temp, especially if you use chopped pieces for use in your salads. (Tip: if you want smaller pieces for salads: chop the pecans *before* you cook them so you get the yummy stuff on all of the sides).

Great reminder for me ...... I used to make something very similar but I would pour out half and then to half left in the pan I would add chili powder and sometime chili powder and the 100% cacao powder, just a dash..... favorite gift for friends.... I need to make some up soon! Thanks!

Me too Nicole! Usually I just listen to these cooking videos and busy myself doing other stuff, However! This brother! “We’ll add a bit of Fireball just because“ OR “from last year, not as crumbly, we’ll just go within it.” And the baby in the background is sooo precious! Brother I’ll be watching!

I put a slice of bread in my bag of brown sugar and it stays soft. If it hardens again add another slice of bread. Works like magic.

OMG lighten UP FOLKS! It’s his kitchen and his recipe. Someone may be able to make it EXACTLY like him. I personally need a recipe with measurements but he seems to be a little of this and a little of that cook like my Grandma was! I think he is almost making something like a pecan brittle but with not enough syrup. He isn’t making pralines. It still looks delicious and I’ll guarantee you complainers would gobble it down if you were there.

My daddy use to make this candy when I was just a little girl except he didn't add any Fireball. I doubt that Fireball Whisky even existed back then. This brings back such found memories. He made his candy the same way as you do. He didn't measure anything. It was like he just closed his eyes, and made it happen by guessing 😅... But, it was always so DELICIOUS! He called it his Brown Sugar Candy.. So Good!!!!
