For those who keep asking, this brake kit uses standard GM Metric FRONT calipers and pads. These calipers and pads came in the front of many GM vehicles throughout the 80s and early 90s. So replacement pads can easily be purchased at your local auto parts store by asking for pads for an 85 Monte Carlo as an example.

So 2 questions are your wheels lug centric or hub centric. Question 2 is the rotors drilled for 5x5 bolt pattern
@BadLuckGarage
@BadLuckGarage 2 жыл бұрын
95% of aftermarket wheels are lug centric so they can fit a variety of vehicles regardless of the hub size. I have no idea what all the lug patterns are on these rotors. That would be a question for Quick performance.

Does anybody know the replacement pads for these brake calipers?
@BadLuckGarage
@BadLuckGarage Жыл бұрын
Im not 100% certain but I believe they’re just standard FRONT pads for pretty much any late 70s to early 90s GM passenger car. The calipers appear to be identical to the factory front calipers on this car. But the best way to get that question answered with 100% accuracy would be to contact either trick chassis or quick performance and ask.
@BadLuckGarage
@BadLuckGarage Жыл бұрын
I actually just called QP and verified and yes, they’re standard GM metric front brake calipers and pads. They said the easiest way to get replacement is just goto the parts store and ask for front pads for like an 85 Monte Carlo.

@@brandencavinder4452 No problem brother. These brakes are basically the exact same GM front calipers used on pretty much every GM car in the 80s. So when I put them on this car I pretty much ended up with a “square” brake setup. This cars running 5s in the 1/8 right now and hasn’t had any trouble stopping….except when I got lapped it 3 times in a row. That third pass was kinda scary with a ton of brake fade. But as long as they get 20 minutes or so to cool between runs there’s no issues.

Should have gotten the LT1 brake ends that are "FLUSH" style from QP on the housing... It's a 10 bolt factory style housing, and the 89-92 10 bolt & 89 9 bolt discs are supposedly the same as 93-97's anyways, so you literally just get a cheap set of 93-97 backing plates and have it pressed on the axle before the bearing and collar. With the flush face the backing plates i think hold it all together, i have to call QP today to confirm as mine didn't have any axle retainer plates and the LT1 backing plates are a super HD piece. That is what i did with mine. Also Strange sells a billet aluminum backing plate kit that has those cut outs for the bearings that stick out some, makes a PBR type setup perfect. And you retain that years disc brake stuff in case in the future you need parts, etc, you literally tell the auto part guys i need the year it is... Makes everything easier. Hardest thing about modifying is keeping up with it. I mean imagine going in for replacement pads/rotors in the future and having to source the crap all again because you forgot etc, much easier to just say i need that years rotors/pads if you get what i mean...
@BadLuckGarage
@BadLuckGarage 2 жыл бұрын
I disagree. This brake set uses standard GM brake calipers that were used on the front of most GM vehicles from the late 70s through the early 90s. The pads can be purchased at any parts store. I believe they’re actually the exact same brake pads that are on the stock front brakes on this car. No need for all the sourcing of extra parts brother. $314 and done. Nothing else to worry about except running the lines. 👍
@ICONBADGTA
@ICONBADGTA 2 жыл бұрын
@@BadLuckGarage You don't get what i am trying to say.. I am saying if you had a F-BODY with discs from factory like 89-92 which are the (SAME EXACT TO 93-97 LT1 STYLE), it's best to just order their "GM SMALL FLUSH FLANGE" so you can reuse your factory setup. This way when you need something and forget, or possibly sell the car, or whatever, the owner can go to any parts store and say hey, i need rotors or pads etc for my 199X FIREBIRD, AND IT BE EXACT. I plan to just unbolt the lines and calipers, leave hanging with zip-ties and then slide rear end in and bolt everything backup perfectly. If you use a long yoke style, you can retain the factory driveshaft i am told. I plan to TKX mine anyways.
@BadLuckGarage
@BadLuckGarage Жыл бұрын
@@ICONBADGTA I get what Youre trying to say completely but don’t think you’re understanding what I said. Trick Chassis didnt offer “LT1” style ends for thier housings when I ordered mine. The only GM ends they had were for the early 12/10 bolt which don’t fit the small 10bolt brakes, or they have the 98-02 ends LS1 ends. Then of course they had all the standard Ford pattern offerings. It seems they added the LT1 end option later. That and the fact that I started with a drum brake rear and had to buy rear disks anyway is why I just went with the Torino Ford ends. As a bonus, almost every aftermarket brake company makes brakes to fit the Torino ends so it’ll make for more choices when we upgrade to even better brakes later. (Which we’re already looking at since this car is currently trapping 120 in the 1/8 mile and we haven’t even turned it up yet) As for ease of finding parts, as I already pointed out, with this brake kit my rear brakes now use the same pads as the front. So I can now walk into any auto parts store and say “I need a set of front pads for a 1990 Camaro” or any similar 80s GM vehicle and those pads will now fit the front AND the rear of this car. As for the yoke, you don’t need an extended yoke. The factory driveshaft fits perfectly with the standard yoke. If you get the extended yoke the factory driveshaft will most likely be too long unless you’re using a short tail th350 or something of similar length. Even then I’m not sure it would fit properly as I’ve never measured for anything other than the long tail th350 that I had when this video was made and the th400 I’m now running.
