45-100 is the ultimate lens, especially for GFX50R ;) - no other lens combines this 'plop" with full colors, pleasant sharpness and absolute stunning tonality. Combined with the fantastic 23 and highly resolving 110 .. a perfect setup for our trip tomorrow to "Zugspitze". Have a friendly, peaceful 2023! All the best from Germany.

OK, now. It has practically no breathing. It's practically parfocal. It has O.I.S. that could be combined with GFX 100'S I.B.I.S., and stills could be shot at a quarter of a second. I'm saving up now! This lens will be my Tri-Elmar (it's an f/4, see? Fuji is the Texas Leica in more ways than one for sure!), making it practically a 3-lens kit (45mm, 66mm, 100mm) without the need to change lens. Thanks Hugh for showing us your test on breathing and on whether the lens is parfocal, for it has effectively pushed me into my kidney-less abyss! I've waited more than a week to make this comment, for I don't know what I would have said if I hadn't!

I love my GFX 100 - the IQ is superb, but if I'm being truthful I prefer the handling of the GFX 50S more. I'm keen to have a crack at the GF 45-100mm f/4 but I don't think the focal range will be of much benefit to me. I tend to to shoot wider and longer for my landscape work, and for portraiture the GF 110mm f2 is too sublime to want to use much else.

I love my GFX100 and don't mind the size or weight, but I'm shooting in controlled environments. I wouldn't for example shoot a wedding with it and have to hold it up for 14 hours. But I also use my GF45 95% of the time, and I find it really light and well-balanced on it, as it was on my previous GFX50S. I wasn't crazy about the 63 and returned it. I found the focusing relatively slow (though I understand that's gotten better now) and noisy (which hasn't gotten better), and that makes it a no-go for me. I have dibs on the first 45-100 my preferred camera shop will be getting in. Looking forward, though I wish they would hurry up that 80 that's coming next year. It will fill a real hole in the lineup.

I have a technical question.. what is the point and/or any benefits of this lens' built-in stabilization when used with the GFX100, if the axis stabilized by the lens get automatically disengaged in the body and only re-engaged again if the lens' stabilization is turned off?

I am going to buy a new camera and i can't decide between the fuji gfx 100 or the leica sl2 (which with a native lens cost almost the same as the fuji with a lens), i know its a different cameras and format but they both have a different pros and cons. As someone who tried both what would you buy?
@3BMEP4 жыл бұрын
tamir cooper I’ve already made my bed: SL2. My intent is street work. The singular advantage (for me) of the Fuji over the Leica is that the Fuji glass is less expensive and available - but I’m patient. 😊

While I would lease my soul to the dark lord for the chance to shoot an SL2, I am extremely happy to have purchased the GFX100. Medium format is just so damn creamy and the IBIS on the GFX100 allows me to shoot at very low speeds HANDHELD! So in that regard, I agree that the SL2 is definitely lighter and you get the cache of owning a Leica, but it isn’t medium format, you don’t get 102 megapixels for endless cropping ability. I personally opted for an Xpro 3 for street shooting. We live in exciting times having these choices for camera! Good luck!

if I had the money, a common lament, I'd buy two of them, one for me, and one for you. All kidding aside, what a great day for photography and what excellent equipment to use on such a day. It sounds like there a few things to correct for version two but if Fuji's past is an indication they will fix the complaints. The basics appear to be there and what matters, bleeding-edge image quality, is there in spades. Wonder if I can borrow the money...
