I just finished the color-play plaid scarf in “weaving made easy”. I used this technique when changing colors. It took awhile with so many color changes but I’m very happy with how it turned out.

I love that as a way to keep my ends from always bulking up my selve edges! Brilliant! Of course, I have a tendency to weave in my ends as I go and I would do more rather than allow those last two bits to keep hanging out. I hate weaving in all the ends once its out from under tension and off the loom.

You don’t have to weave in the tails. I let all my tails hang until after washing and then trim flush with the cloth. It just helps them integrate with the cloth more than if you trim flush as you weave.

I am a total newbie to weaving. In fact, I don't even have a RH loom yet, but will soon hopefully. Would you use this same technique to end the yarn as well? I'm guessing it would work, but not sure. Thanks for this great video!

You bet! You can use it to start or end a yarn.

Interesting! So, did the previous color of yarn that just ran out get joined the same way on the opposite side of the previous shed?
@Yarnworker3 жыл бұрын
You can begin or end a yarn using this join. Each join is worked in a separate shed.

@@Yarnworker Ok, thank you! I'm excited to try it. I'm a new weaver, and have not found a join that I am quite satisfied with yet. This looks very promising!

How would one do this with a thinner yarn such as an 8/2 cotton or tensile?Every time I try it pulls right apart
@Yarnworker4 жыл бұрын
It could be that you are untwisting a bit too much. I would untwist just enough to have the plies separate at the base and then use a blunt needle to separate the plies by inserting it between the plies and using it to pull them apart. Success could also be dependent on the maker of the 8/2 and how softly spun the single are. I have used this technique with 8/2 for towels.
