I noticed this with my ex who is a narcissist, he constantly would say what he is "going to do". All wonderful Eddie Haskel words, but his actions showed who he really is. These are things I wish I could have seen years ago, but I'm so grateful to learn now!! Thank you, Joe, you do change lives.

Thank you for your thoughts. I too wish I had known these things when I was younger unfortunately, nobody was teaching this. The narcissist is always grandiose. They always have great ideas, but they hardly ever achieve anything yet they know how to criticize endlessly.

absolutely, there are studies, that undermine this statement. Always watch someones actions :-). And don't forget, the best predictor for future actions are past actions. This does not mean that people cannot change, but people who want to change also show this in actions and don't only speak of it.

Thank you for your thoughts in the end actions do speak louder than words. As to studies that undermine statements, there are always studies that undermine everything. That's why we go out and we validate things for ourselves.

Hi Sir, I noticed how your right mouth pulls down a bit when you say "deeds". Is it because you don't like the word very much?

I have a question. I have been living in an apartment building for twenty-two years. Over time the population of the buiilding has changed. In the begining people were nice enough, friendly enough not really anyone who was quite a person with enough same interests to become a friend with. I believe in 2006/2007 things changed most of long time residents were ushered out and a large number of people came to live there who did not speak english so that being I did not have any interaction with anyone except a few people like myself continued to live there. Then it seemed at some point things changed again I really didn't take note of when but a similar group of people moved in but after awhile I did notice more people spoke english so I gathered these people had lived in this US for some time or were US citizens of some generations like myself. The encounters I had, via being on elevator or going through lobby were cordial saying hello or kinda confrontational. Snide comment like US citizens sometimes do. I just ignore people like that. Now not having changed myself as to my keeping to myself I noticed if I went to my car a person may yell out to me from accross the parking lot "do you need some help". I thought this odd because from such s distance qnd on the other side of my car how would someone would determine I needed their help and for what would they be helping me with. Also this was not something I had been offered before. I mean I struggled bringing in a portable AC unit I bought from getting it out of my car into a shopping cart(we have those available to residents) and I was passed by several male tesidents going to their cars and even the male and the female cleaning people who easily recognized me, passed me in the small parking lot did not offer any help or even said hi. So I ask you how should I view the actions speak louder than words senario in my building? Also this Ac unit was just a couple years ago. As this offering of help started.

Not having been present to observe everything you have mentioned, it is difficult to say why people behave this way. If you ask around you will find many people will tell you that many people are just more rude nowadays. They don't say good morning, they don't greet, they don't help each other. Sometimes on my morning walks I say good morning and some people pretend they don't hear or don't want to make eye contact. As to someone offering to help you, perhaps they saw something in your face or posture that suggested so. As to your building, I don't have enough information to discern. I wish you well.

@@joenavarrobehaviorexpert Thank you for your reply. I don't know either it's just a lot more important now because my landlord is kicking me out in a not so legitimate way and many residents are willing to befriend the landlord with their opinions.
