Once you spread out your pieces, don't rub or pat them. Just let them dry. Then you can spray them with a clear varnish/sealer, let dry, flip them over and spray the other side, let that dry. This will seal most of the rust corrosion onto the item and keep it from rubbing off so easily.

Thanks for the video - I tried it a couple of days ago and got beautiful results! Also used the leftover solution to stain already coffee-dyed papers (loosely crumpled each stained paper and left to air dry at least overnight - then very carefully uncrumple) and they look awesome! Rubber gloves recommended for sure when dealing with the wet solution!

That would be cool made up in a spray bottle with a wide ish neck. Put the solution in, then the charms and chains, then instead of throwing it down the sink, use the rusty liquid to spritz over paper to age it, so it gets a second use from it too! Then when it's used up rinse the bottle and charms all together! Ok that's me decided... Time to rummage under the kitchen sink for a spare spray bottle... 😘😘😘
@kelliepatrick5193 жыл бұрын
I'll have to try the paper aging with the solution, thanks. I have used the liquid to stain wood that wonderful weathered grey color. But always do a little test first because different kinds of wood stain differently with the solution (ie, light grey to black)

2 Parts White Vinegar 1 Part Hydrogen Peroxide Salt In case you're wondering if you even have the ingredients or seen this same process in other vids but was looking for something else. I used this actually a few yrs ago on bells and safety pins and not only did it work awesome, but the bells and pins lasted me a few yrs, and I'm just running out now. I did a ton of them and it works great

I can just wear tbe stuff as a bracelet and it turns that blackish color. I kill watches too. Takes about 6 montbs and the insides freeze up, the back of the watch and metal band get the black patina and my arm gets a rust stain.

Wow! Amazing! This is so much faster than the last tutorial I saw somebody do--3 days! Can you ever rinse them? Thanks so much for sharing!! I saw a cool tutorial for rust using paint mod lodge and cinnamon. Was that you? It was cool for chipboard.
@PinkPoodleCrafts7 жыл бұрын
sure you can rinse them after they are dry but you dont have to but you can but dont scrub them or disturb the rust too much or some of the surface rust will come off... however if you rinse it and let it sit out and dry it will rust more :)

@PinkPoodleCrafts7 жыл бұрын
do you have access to bleach? You can use bleach and just soak it in bleach and then after 24 hours, drain the bleach and then put in vinegar and salt for about 6-12 hours and then drain that and lay the charms out on paper towels same as in the video
@ibkristykat7 жыл бұрын
i would think you WOULD want to rinse the items to stop the rusting process. i would think any residue would continue to 'rust' the items further.
@creativehappinessbymonique2 жыл бұрын
Hi, can you tell me what percentage of peroxide it should be? I can get 3, 6, 9, 12 or even 30%… which do i need to do this? Thks so much for sharing this trick 💕🌸💕♥️
@mgailqster2 жыл бұрын
1 c. peroxide, 2 T. vinegar, 1 t. iodized or kosher salt
@lindahowe2293 Жыл бұрын
Monique, I would try whatever percentage you have and it should be fine.
