Thank you. I'm diving into crafts using styrofoam and this video is very helpful.

Great video. Ive been looking at ways to hold a plaster relief sculpture on a wall. I normally work by pouring the plaster directly onto a base material. I used to use plaster plaques as a base and pour the plaster onto them then work the plaster to create a sculpture. The plaster would stick really well on top of plaster without the need for glue. The only problem was by the time I'd finished the whole thing it weighed a tonne and was too risky to place onto a wall. Someone on KZbin told me to use foam tiles and pour the plaster onto the foam and it would work just as well as apparently foam sticks to plaster. Did you find thst the plaster holds well and does it.in any way create a hard shell for the foam or could it crack if you pressed lightly into the skull? Was the skull you used standard polystyrene foam or blue styrofoam as I don't know what would be best for my project.

So cool! How did you apply the plaster to the styrofoam model? Did you dip it or paint it on with a brush?

All I can say is, WOW! That looks awesome. I’m helping my 9yr old granddaughter with her 4th grade California Mission project. I’ve helped all 3 of my grandsons (her older brothers)with their missions. Since this will be the last mission I get to work on/help with 😉I was peruse-sing the Internet looking at various ideas. My granddaughter and I have decided this one needs to be over the top. BTW the Mission she has selected is San Juan Capistrano. She already has the basic mission kit from Michael’s.😗 However I was wondering if we could apply plaster of Paris over the walls of the structure. I’m pretty sure it foam board. I/we thought it would give it a really aged and vintage look. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Nana, that's awesome helping out the grand kids!!:) If you haven't worked with plaster of paris before,it can be rather unforgiving.I think your best bet and easiest solution would be premixed drywall joint compound available at any homedepot or Lowes, can purchase in small quantities ,and no where near as messy as plaster of Paris.Good luck, and have fun with those kiddies.

This looks great! What is the consistency of your plaster you're painting on? Thin or mold pouring consistency? I want to try this on making a smooth coat on my rough styrofoam form. Thanks!

Sorry for the late response Layet. Yes, very thin, and you have to work fast.

What kind of plaster did you use?
@mrconcreteartisan5 жыл бұрын
Hi Shiva, just a thin regular plaster of paris. You can also use the dry variety that drywall or sheet rock fellow use ,mix it quite thin and brush on.
