quick vw bug gets faster with these easy changes

with these easy changes i took .500 off my 1/4 mile time and gained 6mph!!! reaching my goal of 100 mph. next dip into the 12s?

Nice little bug i will put a d series Honda motor carburetor and call it the day reason to really cruse around with a 160 hp honda d series engine junkyards parts easy build fast enough to have fun with old school style.

Well done, a lot of guys put a fortune on trailer queen's, love to see a bug where it should be, on the road. Mine is stock and I drove it daily for 15 years now. It had 72k on it , I rebuilt the engine, new p+b, new cam and followers, bearings, seals, brass dizzy gear at 100k and it's now run in at 120k.

Go with 1.4 ratio rockers, there's a well worth while gain for not a lot of money. Do the jeting on a rolling road afterwards.

thanks for the in put! I did just put 1.25 ratio rockers on it that i had laying around. the W130 isn't really designed for a 1.4 rocker. dyno tuning is great but way too expensive around my aria. I'll be doing it the old school way!

Yeah, I figured the Webers may have come set up that way. My carbs are Solex P40’s. Hard to find stacks for them and when you do, folks are asking 5 or 6 Hundo for a set.😫

Get a Gene Berg traction bar it will get rid of the wheel hop. Also the engle 130 cam is a bit small for your motor. Still nice runs and beautiful bug!

nice i miss my bug days i had two of them was my first car first love 75 bug clone as a 60's and dropped with porsche rims.18cc dual weber baja stinger pipe all my buddies laugh at but i thought it looked bad as i was 15-16 years oid when i asked my old man if i could have his old non running vw...i 48 now and wish i could find another vw bug but FUCK a piece of rust no motor no floor pan 60-70 bugs are going for a lot more.They are getting rare..unless u go to south of the border custom bugs down there are on a different level then the cal look style bugs from the 90's

What did it dyno at before these changes and what fuel mileage where you getting on the trip to and from Cali? Sorry, one more question, what exhaust do you have?

ive never have had the car on the dyno all i can say is it picked up 9 mph with the exhaust and vents after jetting it. im sure its not even making 200hp. it looks like an old bug pack header with a big flange and a borla muffler. i actually bought all that from my friend now.

oh thats an empi gt classic wood seeing wheel. think i got it from cip1. i will say it has cracked in the wood around the spokes.

oh nice. webber IDA carbs come with the velocity stacks. i believe that there are manifolds for ida's on a 356 engine but as far as just the stacks im not sure.

I have the intention to put a GoPro in the engine bay and have it show exactly what's happening with vacuum gauges on the carbs so I could tweak them as I drive test.

stock welded fan, small power pully, stock oil cooler, only oil filter in the full flow system and it got to 210 deg F oil temp once when i was sitting in traffic on a hot day. its no issue at all.

it would get 29 mpg highway before. I never checked after but i have not noticed a difference

Before: 30mpg After: under 10 for sure! Not sure why at all, but my little 1641 has been averaging 18 - 19 mpg on a single port with a stock Solex 30. Not very happy about that.
