THANKS - Fixed worked on BMW E46 2000 328i. I replaced my old Business CD several years ago with aftermarket unit that has AUX port and everything worked except poor AM radio reception - even if on correct frequency. Thought it was an antenna connection or antenna-power issue in the aftermarket unit. This solved the problem! It was set to "Europe" - reset to US solved issue.

Thank you so much. Its works in my Z4 2006 with radio Business CD, I'm living in Europe and my car is from US, so its difficult here to get a good radio station. After that video I tried in my Z4 and it works, I changed the US region to Europe Region, and now it works perfect. The only thing is, when you have the Serial number you don't have the + - on the screen, so you change it with the + - of the Tone buttons and it works.

@seikov you reset it. it is set to one region and you "reset" it to your region. as for the other functions you "calibrate" or "adjust" them. but over all you are resetting it for your region NOT adjusting it for your region.

I don't know. Did you try to search for it? I don't use Amazon that much for anything other than text books so I can really help. When it comes to used car parts eBay is your best bet or the BMW forums classified sections(bimmerfest, bimmerforums, bimmerwerkz, e46fanatics, m3forums, e46zone, e46toronto, etc.....) is your better bet!

BarcaBarca1992. The BMW that have does not need a security CODE to access the radio. By CODE in this video I mean setting the Radio to your region and your sepcifics. BMW E46 3 series from 1998 to 2006 do not have codes, but they are antitheft radios.

yeah...it is NOT that sort of video. E46 BMW Business CD53 Radios DO NOT have security codes! But it does have Region Codes! This is for setting the Region Code! I'm going to change the title, because I have no idea why people think I am showing how to unlock a security code on this radio!

@JayDee973 It is the text display you get when listening to a radio station. You usually get the Artist and Song and Rdio Station or Show name. So while a song is playing it will scroll across the radio screen: Rick Ross - This Is The Life - Hot 97 - Top 40 Some stations have more info than others. Some stations have no info other than the Program or Station Name

AM is MW (Medium wave) LW (Long Wave) and SW (Short Wave) AM is the generic term for all three. FM is separate.

This is not that sort of code. It is to set the radio for region and playback features on a 1998 to 2005 E46 3 series. It is not for unlocking security anti theft codes.

no. the 2008 E60 is a completely different car. After 2002/2003 BMW changed up a major way how the electrical components work thru out the cars. Basically making it less 'do-it-yourself' friendly.

quick question I have a 2003 BMW 325xi sport and the problem I'm having is the CD player says CD error. I can not put a CD in the CD deck, it will not play. I would do both if I had the money. Get a used good condition CD53 player ($150 off eBay) and get the USA-Spec PA13 ipod/mp3 adapter ($100 and up at Amazon or eBay). My issue with the 06 X5 BMW E53 sport activity vehicle, is that my radio cassette navigation system unit screen does not illuminate. I can not use any of buttons on the unit. Only the steering wheel buttons can be used to perform seek for a radio station and to turn volume up or down. Has anybody had this problem before. It would come on before then out of blue nothing. I removed all fuses associated with the music system I think : 7;72;73;74;75...if I'm right I have the business class set up type module for music thank you and maybe you can figure out this mysterious n strange occurrence. I even ran it by a local BMW dealership guy who schedules the recalls n other service needs he claimed to of never heard of such an issue happening

Yeah your system is dying! The older navigation screens in these cars don't really go beyond ten years before. When I did my retrofit I did not connect a pin properly and I discovered the Navigation Screen back light uses the same power source as the buttons backlight and function. It was strange that the designers would do this. It is like the toilets in your house stop flushing because the light bulb in the kitchen blew out. I would replace the cassette nav unit (just the monitor part) with a newer one or a CD unit and that will fix it.

You can get the CD Navigation Monitor for a 2005/2006 and search on the BMW X5 forums for other X5 people who did the upgrade DIY X5 E53 www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E53-X5-Navigation-system-E39-E46-E38-gps-computer-6-cd-changer-bluetooth/192409647809?hash=item2ccc823ac1:g:yQ0AAOSw4CFYzwFv&vxp=mtr I think it should be plug and play. Most of this stuff was prewired and plug and play when I installed a Navigation from a 2006 M3 into my 2001 330i. So your 2006 X5 should be well compatible with other kit from a 2005-2006 X5

Did the previous owner stick a potato chip in there? That sounds like you need a new player. These cars don't have the best players and you are talking about a 10 year old cd player in a car so it had pretty much lived out it's expected lifespan. I don't even own CDs anymore much less have them in my car. Your options are: Spend $100 to $200 on eBay replacing the player or spend $100 on an ipod/mp3 player connect kit. What do you do want to do?

Very misleading, he clearly doesn't understand what he Is doing. LW/MW is AM, Its simply the frequency bands that are different and FM has different frequency spacing. GALA is the speed related volume level. TP is a European Traffic information system, RDS + TP is a different thing all together. Classic example of a little bit of knowledge being a dangerous thing. If you mess up your radio, you have this guy to thank....bill him for the repairs.

Brian R You are not going to mess up your radio. My directions are simple and straight forward. Chances are 99% of my viewers here are ONLY HERE to set the region and not do anything more complicated than that. When I put this video up on KZbin 6 years ago there was ABSOLUTELY NO ONE ELSE making videos to help us sort out issues like this with our cars. The hell if I just bought a car for over $30,000 I would make damn sure to keep in contact with the seller so I won't have to get answers from random KZbin videos. That said, the new BMWs are like computers with wheels. Everything needs to be programmed and coded at the dealership at your cost.
