LOL. I just got back last week from a 3 week 'quiet vacation' in Japan. It was the most productive 3 weeks I've ever had at this company so when I got caught, I didn't even have to ask for forgiveness. I told my manager I'm "going back tomorrow" (jokingly) and she said, "Whatever you want to do!" Just do your work and don't fk around on your 'quiet vacation' and you'll be fine.

This crap is going to end once the economy crashes. People are just living like the good times are just going to keep going until the music stops. fact is remote workers are expendable either through technology or out sourcing. If a company feels they're paying you 8 hours a day and you're only doing 4 hours of work, trust me they'll chop that off real quick if it means saving the bottom line.

People, if anyone decides or is planning on doing this, do not tell anyone you consider to be your friend at work about this. Work friends or acquaintances are not always real friends. Has anyone questioned the unhealthy office environment which includes artificial lighting, minimal sunlight, minimal exercise, staring at a blue light, sitting for 9 hours a day, eating unhealthy by rushing and eating whatever is convenient? Ergonomic desks do not eliminate the majority of unhealthy lifestyle side effects that the office environment festers.

Let's be honest. Corporations want slaves not employees. They think if you're not working at 100% effort 100% of the time then they're not getting their money's worth. All this technology was supposed to make our lives easier but here we are expected to work even harder and for longer hours now. Our wealthy masters have convinced us that we should work harder, work longer so they don't have to work at all. I've always worked by arse off while on the job but all my career I watched slackers get promoted because they had the skill of arse kissing while everyone else was busting arse. The whole system based on the lust and greed for more and more profits must change if anything is ever going to get better for the working class. But that won't happen if the working class continues to defend the very system that is oppressing them.

What I learned after more than 25 years in the workforce is. Good, productive employees still lose their jobs. Cutbacks, company closing / bankruptcy, etc. I was with a corporation for 12 years until the corporation went bankrupt. I landed on my feet. Ended up in a better spot now than then. But not everyone did and these were good salt of the Earth people. And the executives in the corporation, you should have seen the bonuses they awarded themselves moments before declaring bankruptcy while the rank and file suffered job loss and unemployment compensation which is a pittance!! Employers ARE NOT loyal to you, do not be loyal to them. Look out for yourself!

When everyone was working in the office…. “Vacationing” was done there too. Browsing the internet, sleeping in their car or at their desk, socializing for hours, long lunches, etc. Companies… focus on the stuff that matters. Is the job getting done? Are your employees burned out? Are they compensated fairly? Are they stressed from internal issues at the company. Etc.

Here's a new way of looking at things....Someone asked a boss "what do you pay that person to make 100 widgets a day?" "I give them $100 a day". And how much profit do you make from each widget? "$100 profit each after all expenses". So you're not giving him $100 a day he's giving you $9,900 a day in profits. Who is benefiting the most? In the U.S. we are conditioned to believe that we owe our boss when it is in fact business that owes all its success to labor.

That's not how the real world works. You need to ask how much your boss is paying to market those widgets? Those widgets are worth ZERO unless someone pays for them. How much is he paying for the tools and IT infrastructure that is needed to build those widgets. the list goes on. It is clear you have little to no experience with business in general.

Hats off to Gen Z work force. I can't agree more that they are definitely on the vocal side. Been an aircraft technician for 20+ years. Airlines are mass hiring now due to boomer generation retiring so we have a lot of new cats in the work force now. Major airline i work for hired over 4000 people this past 2 years. Still going. I applaud their mentality at times. People my age will say they complain too much. Well complaining is good to certain extent. It makes you realize what you've been doing for years was actually pretty fucking dangerous and needed to be changed. Yeah 1/2 the time its just people complaining about nothing. But when you actually listen to some of the stuff they say and think about it. They bring up a lot of good points that us old heads kind of gotten brain washed into thinking wasn't a bad thing. When i first joined it felt like it was military all over again. Old heads yell at you and you do their way or its the highway. For some reason they made you think bringing up being hurt was you being soft. Or wearing proper PPE was "gay". Newer generation are not afraid of quitting either. Which scares the shit out of companies. They know the market is flooded with jobs right now so they'll switch in a heart beat if they think other airlines are better. Hence our pay been going up a lot recently. Hovering around $63hr now. Going up again very soon with new contract. Thats a lot imo for a blue collar job. We get great benefits as well. (7 weeks vacation/year. top out, 12 sick days/year which accrues if you dont use or you can get paid out , 5 holidays/year,) and best part is if there's an open slot in the computer for scheduling you put it in and get auto approved. You dont have to ask mgmt anything.

In my opinion, this will gonna keep going up due to inflation and everything is now unaffordable. Quiet quitting and quiet vacationing create time opportunities for the employee and create their own side business to supplement their income. If the US government can not pay its debt the taxpayers will continue to suffer. Now millennials/Genz will leave the US while building business in other countries and while employed in the US remotely. Now the only solution is to allow more immigrants in the USA like Canada/Australia did to contribute to the economic recovery. This may result in one of you disagreeing, BUT more skilled legal immigrants can be taxpayers to help the US pay its $35t debt and create a healthier economy.
