Great tutorial. I like to fill in the triangular edges on my on point quilts rather than trim off the pattern pieces. If they are cut correctly it gives straight of grain edges rather than bias edges because I always seem to stretch bias edges even if I sew a victory lap around the edge.
@SewtheDistanceАй бұрын
Yeah, I thought about doing this video with setting triangles but then it wouldn’t be easy and it wouldn’t use 2.5” strips from a jelly roll. Maybe I’ll do that in another video. It definitely helps with the stretch although this is manageable, too. Thanks for sharing! ❤️
@alexandra-zaza-burnsАй бұрын
@@SewtheDistance you are 100% correct it definitely makes it more difficult. I like your idea of quilting before trimming as that will stabilise it.

I love ❤️ the fabrics you used!! Why don't you use side setting triangles to keep it squared and not waste the fabric by cutting it off?
@SewtheDistanceАй бұрын
So glad you love it! I thought about that but then it would meet the objectives in this video which were 1.) super easy, even for beginners and 2.) using 2.5” precut strips. Love the fabric line you used. The purple & green combo is a favorite of mine. On the binding width, do you prefer the single fold approach across the board on all quilting projects? I am a newbie and haven't done binding yet. Thanks for sharing a great tutorial!
@SewtheDistanceАй бұрын
I do! I find it to be much easier when adding binding and the project edges are flatter. For quilts, it makes the edges less pokey and more cuddly, too. I hope this helps!

When I’m working on point, I stay stitch the edge before cutting. However, Karen Brown has a better idea. She irons strips of freezer paper 1/4” from the edge before sewing to stabilize the bias edge.

@SewtheDistance27 күн бұрын
I think one jelly roll would work. The biggest issue would be making sure you had equal lights and darks to get the zigzag look, but you could always use cut yardage to supplement the fabric, if necessary. So glad you enjoyed the tutorial! Thank you for watching!
