I love to make square in a square. You make everything simple. I have used Guatemalan fabric and it looks great sewn with that, too. By the way, I think your hair looks beautiful and the fabric of your blouse and background quilt look neat together!

I am wondering if there is more waste with this method as opposed to adding 2 HST instead of the squares..Thanks great video, love your tuts!
@QuiltingBlocksnPatterns6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your lovely feedback. I haven't ever made these with HST so can't really comment on that. But I never have waste, my offcuts go into making crumb quilts www.alandacraft.com/2018/05/06/10-ways-to-use-up-your-fabric-scraps/ or scarves www.alandacraft.com/2014/09/18/easy-no-knit-scarf-tutorial-soft-and-cuddly/.

I love your videos. They are so very easy to understand. Is there a formula for making different sizes .like if I had a 6 inch block.How would I determine the small corner block sizes.?

What about the straight of grain and bias. Wouldn't that be important how its placed so there is no stretch in the wrong places later?
@helenmellissagill12412 жыл бұрын
I've seen a different method, where the squares are cut first then sewn on. But even the pattern I have is a lot of waste as opposed to cutting smaller squares
@marylynngranado70068 жыл бұрын
I have 2 questions that has nothing to do with the current video. (1) can I use 100% cotten sheets to cut up for my 5 inch squares and what would be a good thread count? (2) I was given 55/60 men's dress shirts that all have awesome patterns on them like strips, dots. plain color ones. I am just getting started on my quilt project and very new to this. I have been told that I can only use 100 cotton fabric...these Men's shirts say 55 cotton/45 Polyster on the tag can I use these shirts for my squares, HST and diamonds.
@QuiltingBlocksnPatterns8 жыл бұрын
You can use just about anything to make a quilt Mary Lynn. There are no hard and fast rules on this. Cotton is used mainly because it is easy to work with and stays consistent, so there is little stretch or warp. We are in the process of doing a tutorial using curtain fabric, and another using flannel. Back in the old days they used whatever they had on hand.
