I enjoyed following along with your demonstration. You are a great teacher with just the right amount of detail and direction. I also like the fact that you allow those who need additional instructions for basic steps to tune away to another tutorial rather than slowing down those who are ready for the next step with a recap of basic steps. Thank you for sharing your quilting techinques and helpful teaching style.

Looking through some boxes I recently found a skirt that belonged to my father's aunt, and I vividly remember her wearing it when I was little. So now I'll try to find my favorite skirt from my childhood wardrobe and see if I can bring those two skirts together in a few star flower blocks like the one presented here!

I was just about to start a table runner with this sort of block but one of the corner sections would be a plain piece... and ending up with a maple leaf.(adding a stem) This will be a sooooooooooo much better construction for my blocks..... I have 3.5" blocks to make and 20 of them.. I was going to cut it back to 12... but with this method I might just make my original goal of 20. THANK you SO MUCH!!!!!

That would drive me nutty, all those little bits never want to fit! Looks so cute when you do it!
@QuiltingBlocksnPatterns9 жыл бұрын
+Tineke Williams Give it a go Tineke. You will be surprised. Its all about squaring up the half square triangles neatly and sewing your seams the same width. Then it all fits nicely together. :)

+Paula Sydney i haven't watched any of your quilting ones till now. i'm going to have to catch up. I just realized you ladies have a few channels. You're very crafty and techie, it's great!! :) I blame you for me spending so much money on irons, sidelock rulers, fiskar punches etc. etc. LOL I love all my gadgets though :)
@QuiltingBlocksnPatterns9 жыл бұрын
+Paula Sydney That's hilarious Paula. But we don't feel guilty because those gadgets will help make your projects easier to do. As you probably realise we are gadget people as well. :))

+Quilting Blocks & Patterns There's no reason for you to feel guilty, in fact quite the opposite. I know if you ladies review something and tell us it's great, then it is Grrrrrrrreat!! I love all the stuff I've bought from your reviews and I love watching your reviews, and yes, everything I've bought has made my life so much easier. Thank you so much for everything you do for all of us watching your tutorials. I've learned so much from you and I just love watching your videos!! :)

Wonderful tutorial, thank you so much!! I just made my first block and it came out beautifully. I have such little patience for squaring everything up perfectly but it's SO worth it! Also, on the written pattern on your website it says to cut out 3x 3" main squares instead of 4 like in the video, just a heads up! :)
@QuiltingBlocksnPatterns8 жыл бұрын
+Ashley Phillips Thank you Ashley, I have corrected the information on the website. I totally agree with you, doing the preparation and taking the time to square up the blocks is so worthwhile in the end.

What is the overall size of this block using 3" squares and triangles? I'm guessing something around 12x12?
@QuiltingBlocksnPatterns9 жыл бұрын
+dawn szczur Hi Dawn, the block we made used 3" squares which resulted in a finished block of 10" (unfinished 10 1/2"). Is that what you were asking.

Looks complicated but after watching video, it is easy..Just have to be careful about placement of pieces.
@QuiltingBlocksnPatterns8 жыл бұрын
+Joan Jetta Yes Joan, I agree, the finished block looks as though it is quite complicated, but it is so easy to do. And it looks great. Looks really nice in a table runner.
