Thanks! I'm wondering: once we have used quirkos to find the themes, what do we do then? Where in Quirkos can we record all our deep analysis ie relating of the themes to each other, to the overall question, to the literature, to a new finding, etc. How do we 'export' qualitative theme data in ways that help us in the next step, including writeups?

You stole my mind. i wish that question can be answered. Yes, we have derived our themes and sub themes from coding our data. We now have them in hand, how do we use them to begin analysis?

@hana.karissw9898 Sorry I didn’t spot your comment. My comments are probably too late to help you, but this video from Daniel on the Literature review might help others. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIHMkmCOp8d5h7M . In terms of recording your thoughts you can use the memos, which are linked directly to the data you are thinking about, or you can create a blank source (call it something like ‘Analytical thoughts’) and you can gather your thoughts there. You could also code them, and then use those codes to re-code your original data. There are many ways to achieve deeper thinking about your data though, this was just a suggestion.

@@smartc.amaefula3431 Remember coding (with or without software) is a way to organise your thoughts. The deeper analysis requires you to think about what those more organised thoughts mean. You will be the interpreter. Using the query function can help you see your data in different ways. E.g. which codes overlap, and where in the data does this happen, not? Try Daniel’s video to help with analytical interpretation kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppa0c42EjLJprZo . Go directly to 5:54 to understand more about interpretation.

But what does categories mean?
@cathyquirkos43074 ай бұрын
Don't over-think this one. It just means groups of similar thoughts about the data. e.g. rain, wind, ice -ah, they are talking about weather! Weather is just a group label or category. This is just a descriptive starting point for then asking analytical questions like, 'So what?' 'What does that mean?'

Just to clarify, quirkos doesnt reccomend? Or generate anything for you does it. Looking at this to potentially order my codes to themes for an assignment, but don't want to use if there is any reccomendations/AI?
@Quirkos9 күн бұрын
No 'AI' recommendations in Quirkos, most qualitative analysis approaches involve the researcher generating these yourself. AI tools don't understand what you are looking for in the data, or what is surprising/intersting
@beardedbronco23189 күн бұрын
@@Quirkos Thanks, think I will use it then. Just wanted to clarify, as their are strict rules in terms of using tools that generate things for you :)

Very interesting and informative. How do you formulate themes from quantative research?
@Quirkos Жыл бұрын
It depends a lot on the type of quantitative research, and what questions you are setting. There's a little more information here: www.quirkos.com/learn-qualitative/quantitative-mixed-methods.html
